Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Information Technology (IT) Network Infrastructure Services is currently looking for a Senior Network Designer – Special Programs to join their team in Fairfax, VA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) business organization.

A successful candidate will understand the importance of collaboration as these positions will focus on working directly with IT Business Partners and BDS stakeholders to implement and maintain communications and network systems enabling the BDS business to meet their organizational and program goals.

Position Responsibilities

  • Duties include:
    • Network design, equipment procurement
    • Equipment configuration and installation
    • Cable and wire design and implementation
    • Network break-fix, security plan integration
    • Equipment decommission and surplus
    • Capital/expense planning to ensure that the programs have a secure communications network to perform program development and execution in support of program customer
  • Performs hardware and software support to Secure Network, Secure Voice, and other non-standard system integration
  • Supports security activities such as US government Risk Management Framework (RMF) Compliance, Security Evaluation Checklists, device sanitization, contamination cleanup, and support to the management of System Security Plans
  • Develops and maintains strategic partnerships with customers, stakeholders, and peers
  • Exercises critical thinking and innovative problem solving
  • Acts as the initial point of escalation for issues or challenges encountered by the team
  • Triages and de-escalating issues with impacted parties
  • Develops and executes project and process plans and implements policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates the Boeing Seek, Speak and Listen Behaviors in a deliberate and observable way


This position requires an active U.S. Top Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

This position requires a successfully completed Tier 5 Investigation (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or requires candidate to have been enrolled in a Continuous Vetting program such that periodic updates are no longer required.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):         

  • 5+ years of experience with Cisco Routers, Switches and IOS implementation
  • 5+ years of experience with Design, Implementation and Troubleshooting of Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN)
  • 5+ years of experience with Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Network Protocols
  • Experience with Communications Security (COMSEC) encryption devices

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information, CI/FS Polygraph
  • Experience with Palo Alto next generation firewall systems
  • Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 certification (Security+ preferred)
  • CCNA, CCNP or other Cisco Certification

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.).

Summary pay range: $121,550 - $164,450
