A day in the life.

The Marsh & McLennan Insurance Agency Corporate Development Intern program is designed to prepare individuals to progress, builds the skills and knowledge needed to grow into a Corporate Development position while being provided the opportunity to assist the team in various tasks and projects. Throughout the internship, the Corporate Development Intern will build knowledge needed to successfully obtain a position in the future. Corporate Development Interns work in a variety of situations, at times working as members of a team and other times working alone on an assignment. Interns are under close supervision and performance is monitored to determine qualification for advancement as opportunities arise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compiles data regarding companies to be acquired, in support of the due diligence process.

  • Participates in revenue and expense analyses and projections and prepares presentations on the results of research and analysis of acquisition targets.

  • Follows trends and developments in competitive environments and presents findings to Corporate Development management. Identifies, investigates, and analyzes possible acquisition, merger, and licensing opportunities and strategic partnerships.

  • Assists in analyzing competitor performance on a periodic basis. Manages on-going licensing agreements, acquisitions, and/or alliances as the business representative for the company to extract the most value from the relationship.

  • Screens and evaluates projects for potential outside financing and coordinates review of legal documentation.

  • Conducts financial forecasting and modeling assignments.

  • Maintains databases of information used by the Corporate Development team, including completed transactions, competitor profiles, and status of potential Corporate Development targets.

  • Tracks status of action items to be completed during and after closing transactions and Maintains databases of information.

Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate within 1-2 years of graduation, working towards a bachelor’s degree preferably in a business or finance related field of study, and with a competitive academic standing.

  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish rapport with internal associates and any prospective or existing clients.

  • Results oriented with demonstrated skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve problems and present results neatly, with clarity and precision.

  • Ability to work semi-autonomously in a fast-paced environment.

This summer internship will be a Hybrid work schedule and report to our office in White Plains, NY.

The applicable hourly rate for this role is $24 an hour. The hourly rate offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $37,600 to $70,200.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
