The Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of Microsoft-based systems and network infrastructure. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links to ensure reliable and secure operations.

Key Responsibilities:
 

Server Support:

  • Perform and verify daily backups.
  • Manage remote access and ensure secure connectivity.
  • Apply server updates and service packs regularly.
  • Administer and maintain Microsoft operating systems (Linux experience is advantageous).
  • Manage firewalls and network switches.
  • Maintain and support all physical and virtual hardware.

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support across Development, QA, and Production environments for hosted services.
  • Monitor hosted services to ensure 24/7/365 uptime and functionality.
  • Act as first-line support for system errors and failures, using logs and reports for diagnostics.
  • Oversee and assist with deployments, ensuring stability and readiness.
  • Facilitate communication between external parties (e.g., payment gateways, banks) and internal systems.

Network Support:

  • Design and deploy functional networks including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN.
  • Configure and install network hardware and software (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers).
  • Monitor network performance and integrity, and troubleshoot issues proactively.
  • Schedule upgrades and collaborate with network architects on optimization.
  • Perform system upgrades, apply patches, and maintain security configurations.
  • Provide Level 2/3 support and liaise with vendors for issue resolution.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations and procedures.
  • Knowledge of SD-WAN, MPLS, and network virtualization technologies is beneficial.
  • Experience with cloud networking (especially Azure) is advantageous.

Requirements:

  • IT Diploma - Essential
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in system and network administration within an enterprise IT environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft server environments and Windows-based systems.
  • Proven experience in network infrastructure support, including LAN/WAN, VPNs, firewalls, and switches.
  • Experience performing routine server maintenance, updates, and backups in a production environment.
  • Solid understanding of server virtualization, backup solutions, and system monitoring tools.
  • Experience working with Linux-based systems.
  • Exposure to cloud networking technologies (e.g., Azure).
  • Prior involvement in high-availability environments with 24/7 uptime requirements.
  • Work experience with firewalls and network segmentation in secure environments.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft and Linux OS.
  • Experience in configuring firewalls and switches.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and logs.
  • Ability to work in high-availability environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, taking ownership of problems through to completion.
