As a member of the Cybersecurity Architecture and Engineering Team (CAE), the Cybersecurity Engineer Sr. is primarily responsible for performing our processes to understand and improve the architectures, data flows, and security controls that ensure secure system architectures and implementations. The role requires a solid foundation in applying regulatory requirements and best practices to review and validate system designs across the Leidos global architecture.  To be successful as a Cybersecurity Solutions Engineer Sr., you should be able to explain complex problems to customers in common terms and ultimately build relationships within the Leidos Enterprise. In addition to delivering innovative solutions for Leidos clients, you will work with highly skilled Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), diverse network of people across Leidos businesses who are using the latest emerging technologies to address today's biggest business challenges.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead design reviews for enterprise environments and capabilities. These design decisions, technical control implementations, and risk mitigation measures set the foundation for Leidos’ global cybersecurity posture as a Cybersecurity Engineer Sr.
  • Work with Leidos Corporate customers to understand their needs and design appropriate environment controls to provide solutions that adhere to security standards.
  • Assess and Threat Model systems architectures currently in place and work with technical staff to recommend cybersecurity controls to improve it.
  • Resolve technical security design issues as enterprise solutions and business needs evolve.
  • Continually research current and emerging security technologies and propose changes where needed.
  • Inform stakeholders of any security issues with the technical solutions being proposed and assess the business impact that certain technical choices have.
  • Enhance, document, and moderate our processes, working alongside highly experienced Security Architects and Engineers to ensure reviews are comprehensive and repeatable.
  • Develop a set of reference architectures over time that can be used across customer engagements.
  • Act as a SME with regulatory, compliance, and technical knowledge to support other teammates.
  • Interface with other organizations outside of Engineering to ensure inputs and outputs meet expectations.
  • Keep up to date with regulatory standards (e.g., NIST 800-171, CMMC, Privacy, among others).
  • Keep up to date with cybersecurity practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience in Information Security with a real passion for the field.  Additional years of relevant experience, training, and/or professional certifications will qualify in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance and therefor have US citizenship.  Individuals do not need to possess a clearance today.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to partner and collaborate with both engineers and customers.
  • A self-starter who can execute at the senior engineering level using a combination of learned skills, personal networking, and grit to achieve objectives.
  • Must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate poise and creativity while working with other architects in different domain spaces to come to a common solution.
  • Experience and comfort in taking strategic intents and driving technical organizational change.
  • Understand security fundamentals within different areas of expertise (Networking, Endpoint, Application, Cloud, Mobile, etc.) in order to apply Leidos technical security standards.
  • Demonstrate poise and creativity while working with other architects in different domain spaces to come to a common solution.
  • Knowledge of a broad spectrum of security products and ability to conduct analysis of alternatives to onboard new enterprise capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

All of the below are not requirements, but would bring significant value to the team:

  • Experienced with developing/integrating cybersecurity designs for systems and networks.
  • Experienced with documenting and addressing organizational information security, cybersecurity architecture, and systems security engineering requirements.
  • Understand security fundamentals within different areas of expertise (Networking, Endpoint, Application, Cloud, Mobile, etc.) in order to apply Leidos technical security standards.
  • A basic understanding of Cloud IaaS/SaaS delivery models with experience in any one of the following: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google, or Oracle clouds will be helpful but can be taught.
  • Experience and comfort in taking strategic intents and driving technical organizational change.
  • Knowledge and experience in DFARS; NIST 800-53; NIST 800-171
  • Previous project execution/project leadership experience is advantageous.
  • A background in Network Security, and basic knowledge of the OSI model, TCP/IP protocols, and access fundamentals will be helpful, but can be taught.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
