The Cleveland Clinic’s Research and Innovation and Education Institute is a core component of the institution’s mission, focused on advancing medical knowledge and patient care through research, education, and translating scientific discoveries into practical applications. As an Innovations Engagement Partner, you will be assigned to 2–4 institutes and serve as a key collaborator with leaders, administrators, physicians, researchers, and other stakeholders to identify and develop high-quality invention disclosures for new medical technologies and products. You will engage with caregivers to learn about their intellectual property, educate them through presentations and events on IP policy and the inventor process, and guide them on how to engage with the Innovations office. In this role, you will help caregivers’ complete invention disclosure forms and support the evaluation of technologies disclosed to the office.

A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (flexible start/end)

This is a hybrid position with 3 days on-site at CC Main Campus and 2 days virtual.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Create relationships with key stakeholders to identify potential inventors and develop high quality invention disclosures.

  • Partner with inventors and connect them with Innovations resources to assist in developing new medical technologies.

  • Engage and maintain partner relationships with inventors/leaders based on operational metrics defined by leadership.

  • Function as an Innovations resource for service area leadership and inventors.

  • Provide education for inventors. Support innovations related training programs.

  • Facilitate and improve inventor communication and engagement.

  • Seek guidance from more senior Engagement team members.

  • Track and report on inventor engagement (frequency and diversity of contacts) through a customer relationship management (CRM) system.

  • Perform casing responsibilities with the help of team members and GM’s.

  • Learn the software systems provided and utilize effectively throughout the scope of work.

  • Assist in facilitating structured Innovations sessions.

  • Integrate with and support all Innovations teams.

  • Uphold compliance with regulatory requirements in all areas of operations.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in life or physical sciences, biomedical engineering, finance, business, or related field and five years of relevant experience in health care industry (medical devices, therapeutics, diagnostics, HIT)

  • OR A master’s degree in a relevant field and three years of experience

  • OR A doctorate degree in a relevant field and two years of experience

  • Strong work ethics and excellent marketing and negotiation skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with academic and corporate sectors and comprehend details of new and diverse technologies

  • Understanding of the evolving healthcare world

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Master’s degree or Doctorate degree

  • Digital background (understanding the digital landscape in healthcare) – trends in AI

  • Life sciences background with the ability to effectively engage in discussions with researchers

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.

  • May require periods of sitting, standing and the ability to walk to various locations throughout the health system to attend meetings.

  • Must have normal or corrected vision and be able to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person.
