Position Summary
Through strong knowledge of the organization’s technology infrastructure and specific software applications, helps the business address changes through technology. Performs all tasks to achieve an understanding of business change needs, assessing the impact of those changes, capturing, analyzing and documenting requirements and then supporting the communication and delivery of those requirements with relevant parties. Works on projects with very large scope and impact.
The IT Business Analyst will evaluate the Office of Technology Management's technology infrastructure and recommend upgrades and/or replacements as we seek to evolve and improve our suite of software systems. This position will be responsible for implementing and maintaining new technology solutions, including but not limited to a planned Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
This role requires strong analytical acumen, broad knowledge of enterprise software systems, vendor management, and an ability to prioritize complex timelines and goals. Competitive candidates will have excellent project management skills, technical proficiency, strong communication abilities, and the capability to work independently within a collaborative team environment.
Additional responsibilities include partnering with staff to prioritize and oversee ongoing maintenance and process improvements to existing systems.
The technical scope requires deep knowledge of standard software, development of use cases, requirements management, quality assurance processes, systems analysis, and documentation. Tasks span all project phases, including defining stakeholders, objectives, oversight of design, scope, development, implementation, and post-launch support.
To effectively implement new software systems, this role will assess and gain knowledge of existing solutions and leverage prior needs analyses. The successful candidate must have strong project management skills and be able to create consensus on priorities among diverse stakeholders with varying unit-specific goals.
The IT Business Analyst will manage and deliver medium- to large-scale business projects aimed at integrating technology for improved operational efficiency and reducing administrative burden. This position will serve as a key point of contact between end users, the technical team (including internal developers, external contractors), and university leadership, ensuring alignment of project goals and deliverables.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Project Management for New System Implementation
- Provide overall technical project leadership and management throughout the project lifecycle(s), including the implementation, operation, and maintenance of a CRM system.
- Develop and manage project plans, defining objectives and scope, coordinating activities, managing timelines and resources.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks, dependencies, and obstacles that could impede project success.
- Manage vendor selection and relationships, monitor budgets and deliverables to ensure efficient use of resources when outsourcing work.
- Conduct regular project status meetings and provide leadership updates, summarizing milestones, progress, resource allocation, and key metrics.
- Conduct 'build vs. buy' analysis for future phases of system transformation.
- Facilitate end-user working groups to ensure shared understanding of needs and build internal consensus.
Software Administration for Current Systems
- Provide technical consultation and project management oversight for ongoing maintenance and enhancements of existing software solutions.
- Collaborate with staff, including internal developers and IT management, to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, ensure data integrity, and reduce administrative burden.
- Identify and engage external vendors as necessary to support software improvements.
- Lead requirements definition and review for system enhancements or new functionalities.
- Ensure that system requirements and solutions align with university objectives and future needs.
- Maintain IT disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Salary Range
$84,200.00 - $148,500.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
