Job Description:
The Security Officer provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees, and volunteers, typically in an office or ambulatory clinic setting. This position is responsible to monitor visitor or patient activity, monitor the premises in and around the facility , enforce policy, provide assistance and direction, respond to emergencies, and to provide protection for employees, visitors, and Intermountain property.*Additional job information: Licensure Requirement
This position is subject to Montana state licensing requirements. Candidates must hold a valid Montana Security Guard License or have the ability to obtain licensure within 120 days of hire, in accordance with state regulations.

Minimum Qualifications
Current Driver’s License (if applicable for the role).
Current Basic Life Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
At least 21 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
One-year previous law enforcement, corrections, public safety, military police or security experience.
Physical Requirements
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
Frequent interactions with customers require employees to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The Public Safety Dispatcher supports a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff by providing security-related communication, documentation, security systems monitoring, and security officer dispatch services. Working under general supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, this role serves as a central coordination point for public safety operations across the facility.
Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health and consistently demonstrates service behavior standards.
Communicates with and dispatches Security Officers to appropriate locations; monitors radio traffic; and collaborates with hospital operators to ensure timely and effective security response.
Maintains continuous situational awareness, observes for potential security risks, and takes appropriate action to prevent or address safety hazards involving persons or property.
Assists patients, guests, and staff by providing general information, managing access control, verifying badges and passes, and inspecting packages entering or leaving the facility to prevent unauthorized access.
Performs public service and security support duties, including escorting patients, guests, or employees; assisting with vehicle or room lockouts; opening or securing doors; and providing battery boosts.
Patrols parking areas and campus grounds to identify safety hazards and parking violations; prepares accurate reports documenting violations, hazards, and repair requests.
Monitors and manages security and fire protection systems, including alarms and surveillance video; serves as system administrator for facility access control systems by adding, modifying, or removing access and initiating lockdown procedures when required.
Maintains working knowledge of safety and emergency preparedness plans, including performing rooftop clearance assessments prior to helicopter arrivals and assessing patient rooms for hazards related to suicidal or behavioral health concerns.
Skills Verbal and written communication skills to compose complete, coherent, and concise reports.
Analytical and observational ability to recognize suspicious behavior, criminal activity, and potential safety hazards.
Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Montana Driver’s License (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire) with proof of insurability
BLS certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire; offered on-site)
Montana Security Officer’s License (or ability to obtain within 120 days of hire)
Demonstrated experience with basic computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to work nights and/or weekends for identified positions
Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Regular and reliable attendance to perform work on-site during scheduled business hours or assigned shifts
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Administration, or a related field, with participation in security or law enforcement through internships or volunteer work (e.g., police reserve programs)
Experience in hospital security dispatch and/or public law enforcement dispatch
