POSITION SUMMARY

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Manager - Software Development Engineering within the Aetna Digital team, that will help to lead a team developing applications pivotal in shaping the digital experience for millions of Aetna members. As a Senior Manager, you will be a people leader, aiding and encouraging your team that will be focused on design, development and implementation of digital solutions and systems by applying advanced technical expertise to architect and code software applications, conduct system testing and debugging, collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to the overall technical direction and innovation of digital engineering projects. Additional responsibilities will also include being a key partner to senior leadership, product teams, design teams and engineering, providing the strategic context that empowers teams to move quickly and be confident in long term value of the work they do every day.

Expectations for the Role:

  • Direct activities for a team of software development engineers, providing guidance and mentorship, and setting performance goals to contribute to the company's business objectives
  • Develop strategy for software development projects, defining project requirements, timelines and deliverables to drive effective execution
  • Facilitate risk assessments by troubleshooting production issues, assessing available resources and providing timely resolutions to minimize downtime
  • Lead department throughout the software development life cycle operations, including backlog grooming, sizing, prioritization, demonstrations and delivery
  • Ensure the department adheres to best practices, quality standards, and industry trends
  • Collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams, including product managers and business stakeholders, aligning priorities, resolving conflicts, and maintaining productive relationships
  • Research and evaluate the latest software development technologies, methodologies and industry trends, capitalizing on innovative technology solutions and integrating best options
  • Deliver expert technical guidance, make informed decisions and support the team when faced with complex challenges
  • Hire software development engineers, conduct performance reviews and foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes continuous learning opportunities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of professional Information Technology experience
  • 3+ years of experience leading / managing teams with direct reports with additional experience in leading medium to large sized teams of diverse development engineers across multiple locations.
  • 2+ years partnering with architecture, product, and program management teams to influence product development assisting or improving products
  • Experience with leading teams who follow a Scrum/Agile development methodology

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience managing multiple work streams and dependencies
  • Be able to identify a vision along with the plans, which need to be implemented to meet the end goal, evaluating situations, decisions, and issues in the short, medium, and long term
  • Understand of performance, optimization
  • Influence and persuade - able to present sound and well-reasoned arguments to convince others. Adapt to the situation and can draw from a range of strategies to persuade people in a way that results in agreement or behavior change

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $260,590.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
