The Opportunity
 

We’re seeking a Data Scientist – Business Engagement to join our Perth team. In this role, you’ll lead high-impact initiatives that bring data and AI to life across Western Australia, directly influencing decision-making and driving real outcomes for our projects and stakeholders.
 

In this role, you will contribute to major projects that bring data and artificial intelligence into everyday business operations. You will work closely with stakeholders, ensuring complex datasets are translated into clear solutions that support decision-making and deliver measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis to support policy and program initiatives, translating business needs into clear data requirements and actionable insights.
  • Act as a key liaison between business stakeholders, project managers, and offshore development teams, ensuring alignment on priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Gather, document, and validate business and functional requirements, working closely with technical teams to ensure solutions meet user needs.
  • Design and deliver Power BI dashboards and visualisations that effectively communicate insights and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Maintain and enhance AI tools used for summarising and analysing structured and unstructured data, ensuring they remain aligned with evolving business use cases.
  • Lead the adaptation of tools for new applications, engaging stakeholders to understand emerging needs and translating them into technical specifications.
  • Ensure all solutions are well-documented and compliant with internal data governance, privacy, and quality standards.
  • Provide expert advice on data collection, integrity, and interpretation, supporting evidence-based decision-making across the organisation.
  • Apply strong project coordination and delivery skills, managing tasks, timelines, and dependencies across cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.

Required Skills and Competencies

About You

  • Relevant industry experience in working with data science and AI projects would be desirable.
  • Proficiency in data modelling, data scripting and transformation as well as statistical analysis.
  • Experience with Python, Power Query andPower BI are considered highly desirable
  • Experience in pattern recognition and predictive modelling.
  • Ability to work effectively within a dynamic, research-oriented group that has several concurrent projects focused on practical AI and business automation initiatives applied to construction delivery environments
  • The ability to make good decisions based on analysis, experience and judgment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to document and visualise complex processes, workflows and outputs and communicate these to less technical audiences.
  • Passionate about staying updated on new AI technologies and trends to drive innovation.​
