VP, Global Total Rewards  

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Head of Global Total Rewards will lead the design and execution of global compensation and benefits strategies for Yahoo. They will lead a global team and operate with a ‘hands on’ approach, collaborating with senior executives at Yahoo as well as Apollo leadership on the development and roll out of comprehensive and engaging Total Rewards programs.  

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy and Program Design

  • Design Yahoo’s Total Rewards strategy, leveraging the Talent Management Strategy and connecting fully to Yahoo’s Business Strategies.

  • Engage effectively with senior stakeholders (Yahoo exec team, Apollo partners) to gain alignment around approaches in an organized and clear way, so that programs can be designed and built proactively and strategically

  • Drive innovative and market-responsive global compensation approaches that are both scalable and impactful. 

Expertise, Relationship Building and Partnership

  • Provide expert consulting and thought leadership in all areas of reward and recognition to business leaders and HRBPs, generating strategies and solutions which meet the demands of a competitive marketplace while ensuring fair and equitable pay.

  • Develop key cross-functional partnerships within the People Team and across the organization, including Finance, Legal and Communications and model behaviors to drive team connection and collaboration.

  • Manage partnerships with key vendors and external partners that will enrich our data sources, broaden our thinking with industry insights to ensure that our programs remain competitive.

Systems, Process and Analysis

  • Lead requirements setting for global compensation benchmarking and related analytics to proactively evaluate the competitiveness of our compensation programs in partnership with the People Solutions team

  • Own reporting requirements for Compensation-related insights using data from a variety of sources and designing dashboards to serve clients

  • Lead job architecture project to bring legacy job families and compensation ranges into the modern day (ML, AI, etc.)

  • Lead the design and execution of company-wide annual compensation processes

Leadership and Team Management

  • Contribute to People Team Leadership Team - from weekly updates, to brainstorming around upcoming projects and planning of offsites.

  • Lead the global Total Rewards team (currently c.30 FTEs), including senior SMEs for executive compensation, sales compensation, benefits, and equity, ensuring ongoing and timely feedback around performance and development.  

Capabilities and Experience:

  • Extensive experience of leading global compensation and benefits programs (from design to roll out) which are strategic and employee-centric

  • Track record of taking private companies through IPO or acquisition in the tech/internet/media industry

  • Domain expertise: knowledge of technical compensation frameworks

  • Domain expertise: Excellent modeling, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make strategic decisions

  • Attention to detail, pride in accuracy, sense of urgency when required

  • Ability to prioritize and communicate clearly: focusing on critical objectives that add the most value and deliver results while owning decisions to slow down or stop non critical work

  • Growth mindset and “can do” attitude

  • Leadership capability: leading by influence and collaboration - ideally has operated successfully within a matrixed global organization (including an HR shared services model) 

  • Track record of building trusted cross-functional relationships. 

  • Must be able to work and partner exceptionally well from a virtual perspective

  • Executive presence and polished communication skills

  • PE ownership experience not critical but preferred

  • Experience of presenting to executive committees and boards 

  • This is a large role: must have strong project management and organizational skills

  • Track record of building global teams

The compensation for this position ranges from $218,750.00 - $406,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
