We are seeking a dedicated Intermediate Back-End Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain robust software solutions. You will collaborate with multi-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet our customer’s needs, while maintaining the health of our applications. 

How will you contribute: 

  • Designing, coding, unit testing and integrating new features and functionality as defined by the Product Partner and team. 

  • Applying creative problem solving that bring software designs to life. 

  • Focal point for design decisions, and the primary liaison with other squads/Arts and enablement teams. 

  • Supporting the squad in identifying interdependencies, providing estimates, profiling technical risks, and documenting technical debt.  

  • Participating in building out technology roadmaps and project plans to ensure best in class applications, APIs, and data solutions to drive outcomes. 

  • Reviewing current software framework to identify defects and opportunities to improve performance, maintainability, and stability. 

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers, fostering their growth and development. 

  • Researching technical strategies, tools and new technologies to deal with emerging technical issues and improve development efficiency. 

  • Applying coding practices to enable agility and delivery of high-quality code. 

  • Promoting agile principles and methodology. 

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable back-end systems and APIs. 

  • Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and other customers to deliver high-quality software solutions. 

  • Implement and optimize server-side logic using Java and Spring Boot. 

  • Fix and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner. 

  • Manage and optimize data storage solutions using Redis. 

  • Participating in brainstorming sessions to devise creative and innovative digital solutions. We need and value fresh ideas! 

  • Updating progress daily through the tracking tool (Jira) or Scrum/Kanban board. 

  • Participating in meetings to assist the Product Partner and squad leads to refine the Product Backlog including providing initial estimates. 

Preferred skills and experience: 

  • You are an Intermediate Back-End Software Engineer with a strong capability towards back-end development with a minimum of 5+ years of experience. 

  • You understand the eco-system of front-end to back-end to make suggestions to our technical strategy to iteratively deliver value and modernize our tech stack. 

  • Comfortable with legacy C#.Net or Java and experienced in new stack Node/React as we continuously transform and modernize our suite of applications. 

  • You understand systems development methodology, able to experiment with emerging technologies and understand how they impact what comes next. 

  • You have a proven history of solving complicated problems. 

  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other approaches to accelerate the delivery of new features. 

  • You have hands on experience with progressive architectural styles such as microservices. 

  • Hands-on RDBMS experience (data modeling, analysis, programming, stored procedures) 

  • Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and OO Design with excellent programming skills. 

  • Collaborative to work with team members; able to coach, participate in code reviews, share skills and methods. 

  • Constantly learns from both success and failure and is keen on experimenting with emerging technologies. 

  • Good organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable you to manage through creative abrasion. 

  • Good verbal and written communication; effectively articulates technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes. 

Key technologies and tools for this role include: 

  • Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Node.js/React, Oracle Databases, Azure DB, JavaScript, AKS, and Azure cloud services. 

  • Strong Data analytics (Data validation & Classification) 

  • Java/J2EE for application development 

  • Rest API 

  • CA Workload or running and managing schedulers  

  • Jira and Confluence for task and content management 

  • GitHub for source control 

  • Other: Progress/SQL Database 

Additional attributes that are nice to have: 

  • Agile team experience where responsibilities include the planning and delivery of user stories in an Agile SCRUM environment 

  • Banking Industry knowledge/experience

Salary range is expected to be between

$74,270.00 CAD - $137,930.00 CAD
