Job Description Summary:

Provides supervisory oversight of Safety and Security Un-Armed Officers in addition to providing security and safety services in all areas of the hospital, hospital properties and the hospital's off-campus sites as assigned. Works with Protective Services care site manager to create and maintain a safe and secure environment for the hospital's patients, visitors, and staff through utilization of equipment and techniques that prevent weapons from being brought into OhioHealth facilities. Provides staff guidance, collaboration and problem solving with Protective Services leadership, way-finding and other customer services functions as the initial point of contact for care site visitors.

Responsibilities And Duties:

Oversees the procedures of Un-Armed Security Officers who operate weapon scanning equipment as well as ensuring their equipment is properly maintained.

Enforces OhioHealth facility policies regarding a weapons free environment and others.

Monitors un-armed security officer operations via closed circuit television to ensure compliance with screening procedures and to alert armed security to escalating situations that may require their involvement.

Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures, alarm response, evacuation, and internal and external disaster plans.

Works independently to determine the correct response to weapons free operations and issues that arise as a result of that state.

Performs any function and/or training as assigned by leadership who reserves the right to make changes to the assignments, training levels required and/or to the general required competency levels on an "as needed" basis.

In this position, you will be assigned a primary (home) work location but will have the opportunity to float to other locations based on team availability and need.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School or GED (Required)

Additional Job Description:

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

  • BLS Certified.

  • Computer skills, MSDS and safety knowledge.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be mentally and physically capable to successfully complete training for, participate in, and maintain Certification to operate weapons scanning equipment.
