The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their abilities to successfully perform independent living skills. This caregiver designs appropriate plans of care, implements treatment plans and educates the patient and their family on the treatment plan.
This is the ideal role for an individual who is looking to impact patient care in a growing market. This caregiver will have the ability to learn and grow, as they treat a variety of patients.
A caregiver in this position works as needed between the hours of 7 a.m. -- 5 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role, will:
Assess patient’s ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills and design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities and document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
Educate the patient and family about patient deficits.
Direct and supervise the activities of support personnel.
Act as a clinical instructor or participate in the education and evaluation of students.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:
Bachelor’s degree
Graduate of Occupational Therapy program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
Current Ohio licensure as Occupational Therapist
Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:
