POSITION SUMMARY: 

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Category Manager is to support brand merchandising strategies by analyzing key financial metrics, market trends, and customer insights to guide assortment decisions.  

  • Support in driving speed to market, innovation and efficiencies.

  • Partner with brand teams and vendors to support category strategies and hit key performance metrics.

  • Stay agile in a fast-paced market, set up new products, and support sales and inventory goals.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSTENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

Category Strategy & Assortment:

  • Assist the Category Manager in the development and implementation of category strategies across all Signet brands.

  • Partner with merchants and vendors to develop best in class product offerings and grow market share.

  • Assist in the optimization of a digital first approach in key categories of products.

Vendor Management:

  • Establish strong vendor relationships to implement and support brand strategies.

  • Participate in vendor performance reviews.

  • Support new product innovation and help drive efficiencies across the supply chain.

Cross-Functional Communication & Collaboration:

  • Serve as a liaison between sourcing, merchandising, planning and vendors to ensure alignment on strategy and execution of deliverables.

  • Assist in facilitating internal processes by ensuring the timely flow of information across departments.

  • Support special projects and seasonal initiatives that require analytical tracking, documentation, or operational coordination.

Market Trend & Performance Analysis:

  • Monitor sales metrics, market trends, vendor performance, competitor activity, and customer insights to inform assortment and product decisions.

Reporting & Information Management:

  • Update and maintain regular reporting to support category performance analysis and departmental KPIs.

  • Enter and validate SKU-level data, including product attributes, cost, and pricing details in merchandising systems.

  • Performs additional duties and projects as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education Required:  Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising or related field experience

​​Required or Acceptable Job-Related Experience:​  1+ year prior merchandising, category management or related experience preferred

​​Years of Job-Related Experience Required:​  1+ years 

​​Technical/Other Skills Required:​  

  • Computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Business Objects or Tableau experience is a plus. (not required)

  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), attention to detail and accuracy, organizational skills, & math skills (ability to work with numbers and analyze data). 

  • Ability to be metal free and work in a metal free environment, when necessary, based on security policy. (Akron Support Center)

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Works independently as well as collaboratively on a team.

  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills.

  • Flexible to work both in-office and remotely as required.
