Note:  To be considered for this Associate Actuary role, this position requires a minimum of an ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) credential, a bachelor's degree, and a min. of 2+ years of actuarial experience.

Position Purpose:   

  • Develop, maintain and operate health insurance models. Conduct analysis, pricing and risk assessment to estimate financial outcomes.
  • This role is based in the modeling team within the broader marketplace pricing team and will help build technical solutions that augment traditional actuarial work.

In this Associate Actuary role, you will:

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance homegrown pricing and filing production models based in R, VBA, and Excel
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all modeling related actuarial activities for the assigned health plan(s)
  • Lead the generation of pricing and filing package for the assigned health plan(s)
  • Grow into a subject matter expert and own development of specific models or sub-models
  • Apply knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculate financial outcomes
  • Research and analyze the impact from legislative changes
  • Analyze and evaluate required premium rates
  • Assess cash reserves and liabilities that enable payment of future benefits
  • Analyze various data reports, identify trends and gaps and recommend action
  • Create and update actuarial reports

 

Education/Experience:  

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of actuarial experience.

Preferred experience:

  • Experience in R, VBA, or other similar programming languages
  • A desire to learn and improve their technical abilities

License/Certification: Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) (or equivalent international certification)

*Applicants for this job have the flexibility to work remote from home anywhere in the Continental United States. To accommodate the business's requirements, the ideal work schedule is 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Standard Time.*

Pay Range: $84,300.00 - $151,700.00 per year
