Job Summary 

Systems integration engineer is responsible for firmware release testing, RCA of issues related to firmware, system, and hardware, and their configurations, and review and triage of operator reported issues.  For firmware release testing they will be developing, updating, and executing firmware release testing procedures, and providing reports and recommendations on releasing the FW updates to Operations. They will be a bridge between operations and development teams, providing valuable insight into how features and bugs impact operational procedures, and will provide recommendations on how to best prevent, mitigate, and resolve such impacts.  They will also be deeply involved in development team support with on-vehicle diagnostics and RCA.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • FW and embedded software testing for components such as high performance compute safety monitoring systems, vision processing systems, and network components.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance robust, scalable test infrastructure and automation frameworks using Python, Shell, and relevant platforms to support high-volume, fleet-wide FW rollouts.
  • Conduct detailed log analysis and support root-cause investigations across AV software and hardware, particularly diagnosing issues impacting fleet efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinating with development engineers and project management to drive a structured approach to identifying, addressing, and resolving AV System problems. 
  • Thoroughly understand the different hardware components on the vehicle, how they impact the software stack and maintain knowledge as things change, including expected behaviors and visual representation across various tools
  • Show initiative and be a valued team member in our innovative, fast-paced, technical environment where cooperative teamwork across locations is the norm
  • Create and manage events and issues on Alissan/Jira based tracking, and providing supporting metrics
  • Participate in the recurring standup to address new concerns and assignments that may need to be undertaken. This may include new information on which routes need to be prioritized and changes in processes that need to be implemented
  • Create/update documentation recording test procedures and issue triage processes

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Robotics, ECE, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Proven ability to lead technical efforts, mentor, operate with minimal oversight, and drive cross-functional alignment with teams like Fleet Operations and Product.
  • Demonstrated expertise in test strategy, automation, and end-to-end testing for complex mechatronic/autonomous systems.
  • Understanding of linux, systemd, initd, and reviewing linux journal and dmesg logs
  • Understanding of ethernet/IP networking concepts such as ip address/subnet, routing, and TCP/UDP
  • Experience with other vehicle communication networks (CAN, CAN-FD, Automotive Ethernet).
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings.
  • Ability to multitask across various project activities and work with a global team.
  • Ability to provide hands-on debugging as needed during testing and evaluation.
  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment across multiple time zones with strong communication and collaboration
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Have a strong attention to detail and be able to work independently
  • Familiarity with bash and python scripting

Bonus Points (not required):

  • Understanding of IP/ethernet networking concepts such as VLAN, multicast, NAT, and knowledge of the 7 OSI Network layers
  • Familiarity with tools such as tcpdump and wireshark to capture and review raw network data from IP/Ethernet data
  • Familiarity with DDS
  • Experience with Atlassian and software development lifecycles
  • Software development experience in C++

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors including but not limited to specific skills, experience and expertise, role location, certifications, licenses, and business needs.
