About This Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a part-time (30%) Postdoctoral Research Fellow / Research Officer with computational research experience in coding (Python/R/Matlab/etc) to collaborate in bioimage analysis (cell segmentation, cell co-localisation and tissue phenotyping, fluorescence microscopy, medical image analysis) of our research group's engineered tissue culture systems.
We are also interested in candidates who have experience in programming mathematical models using spatiotemporal imaging data (mathematical systems of ordinary/partial differential equations). Experience in image data collection (operating a microscope for tissue culture imaging) is desirable.
Key responsibilities will include:
Research:
Produce high-quality research outputs, publish in reputable outlets, and develop an emerging research profile.
Collaborate on research funding applications, joint projects, and commercialisation of intellectual property.
Apply best practices in research methodologies to advance knowledge transfer, technology translation, and end-user engagement.
Supervision and Researcher Development:
Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
Citizenship and Service:
Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You
Completion or near completion of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in biomedical, chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering, biomedical sciences, biotechnology, computer or data science.
Completion or near completion of a doctoral degree in biomedical, chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering, biomedical sciences, biotechnology, computer or data science.
An emerging profile in research in the discipline area.
Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
Some evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.
Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check, mandatory immunisations, etc.
