Job Description & Responsibilities:

Leads the strategic and tactical execution of the medical education programs for the oncology and specialty care business in Canada.

Shows a strong understanding of the oncology education landscape and can think critically with excellent judgement.

Demonstrates expertise and consistency in delivering and leading operational excellence, streamlining med ed processes, leading change management initiatives and closely partnering with the Med Ed Managers and cross-functional teams to optimize processes and execution for the tactical plans. 

Works closely with HCP faculty, vendors and internal stakeholders to implement high quality educational events that drive learning in key focus areas of the business

Outstanding organizational and communication skills and the ability to manage projects through the entire project lifecycle

Proactively and independently seek solutions to issues and make recommendations for improvement

Plan and collaborate in the execution of educational initiatives and manage budget to align with business needs.

Manage, coach, and mentor Med ed Manager direct reports & Associates

Acts as a mentor to support and advise on topics like GSK ways of working, code of practice, GSK med-ed processes, MEM/Associate resources.

Demonstrates leadership in gathering insights from external healthcare community that inform medical education activities.

Contributes to the broader business by leading cross-functional projects and collaborations with matrix partners.

Demonstrates strong partnerships and relationships with vendors, focusing on receiving the best quality of products and services for GSK and ensuring vendor alignment to strategy.

Accountable for embedding best practices in med ed across the therapy areas.

Supporting MPR metrics and collaborating with senior stakeholders both in medical and commercial

Analyzes metrics, industry trends and competitive programs to obtain insights into anticipated educational needs This is a role within medical reporting into the Medical Education & Governance Director with accountability for building medical education for Canada as well as supporting and leading the medical business on all change management initiatives as it relates to medical education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key lead for Medical Division in Canada for medical education
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the oncology and Specialty care landscape which includes trends, customer priorities and competition
  • Drives innovation in learning delivery based on adult education principles and best practices and research
  • Oversees and manages a team of medical education managers responsible for the implementation of medical education in Canada.
  • Coaches and develops direct reports to adopt a growth mindset for medical education.
  • Thorough understanding of IMC and medical education requirements for accredited and unaccredited events in Canada
  • Provides strategic and tactical expert advice to medical leadership team to minimize risk & ensure appropriate governance framework is followed in Canada for all new medical education initiatives.
  • Builds & sustains strong working relationships with cross functional teams to ensure excellence in medical education events.
  • Plays a key role on new strategic medical initiatives in areas of medical education and partners with medical stakeholders in building the strategy for the programs.
  • Key stakeholder in supporting Medical Education Director in analyzing business trends and competitive programs to obtain insights.
  • Embraces GSK ethics, adheres to stated corporate compliance policies and lives GSK’s values

What will you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Education or Marketing
  • Project Management is a plus
  • 3-5+ years of experience in medical education, marketing or sales
  • Understanding of the oncology or specialty care space
  • 3-5+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry (med ed vendor experience will be considered
  • Bilingual in English and French (preferred)
