Job Description:

Technology is at the heart of Disney’s past, present, and future. Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is a global organization of engineers, product developers, designers, technologists, data scientists, and more – all working to build and advance the technological backbone for Disney’s media business globally.

The team marries technology with creativity to build world-class products, enhance storytelling, and drive velocity, innovation, and scalability for our businesses. We are Storytellers and Innovators. Creators and Builders. Entertainers and Engineers. We work with every part of The Walt Disney Company’s media portfolio to advance the technological foundation and consumer media touch points serving millions of people around the world.

Here are a few reasons why we think you’d love working here:

  • Building the future of Disney’s media: Our Technologists are designing and building the products and platforms that will power our media, advertising, and distribution businesses for years to come.
  • Reach, Scale & Impact: More than ever, Disney’s technology and products serve as a signature doorway for fans' connections with the company’s brands and stories. Disney+. Hulu. ESPN. ABC. ABC News…and many more. These products and brands – and the unmatched stories, storytellers, and events they carry – matter to millions of people globally.
  • Innovation: We develop and implement groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms, and solve complex and distinctive technical problems.

Role Overview

We’re hiring Product Development Managers across multiple levels—from early‑career managers to principal‑level leaders—to drive the strategy, execution, and delivery of innovative, high‑impact product capabilities across Disney’s global digital and streaming ecosystem. You’ll partner closely with engineering, design, data, and operations to define product direction, shape technical solutions, and deliver features that delight users and advance business outcomes. Depending on level, you may lead a single product area, manage multiple workstreams, or set product direction and practices across a broader domain.

*Throughout the recruitment process we will evaluate your skills and experience to determine level placement

Responsibilities

  • Define and manage product roadmaps—including backlog ownership, prioritization, and alignment with business goals.
  • Establish product success metrics, forecast outcomes, and build business cases for new initiatives.
  • Lead discovery through research, user studies, journey mapping, and data analysis to validate opportunities.
  • Translate insights into PRDs, user stories, requirements, and other product documentation.
  • Collaborate with Design on initial concepts, wireframes, prototypes, and user‑experience refinement.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including refinement, sprint planning, acceptance testing, and release management.
  • Partner with engineering to evaluate technical feasibility, make trade‑offs, and guide implementation toward high‑quality outcomes.
  • Define validation strategies and support teams with acceptance criteria, data needs, and readiness checks.
  • Communicate product status, risks, and progress clearly across technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Track product performance using telemetry, analytics, and operational metrics; drive continuous improvement.
  • At higher levels: influence domain‑wide strategy, mentor PMs, and elevate product development practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to drive end‑to‑end product development—from discovery and definition through execution and measurement.
  • Ability to partner effectively with engineering teams to define technical solutions and evaluate trade‑offs.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to use data, telemetry, and insights to inform decisions and validate hypotheses.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience defining product requirements, writing user stories, and developing documentation such as PRDs.
  • Demonstrated cross‑functional collaboration and ability to influence outcomes without authority.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and product‑development tooling.
