Job Description:

Summary
The Senior Director HR Business Partner will be responsible for providing complete Human Resources generalist support to the assigned region and the Supply Chain support operations and business groups. This is a hands-on role, which requires thorough knowledge of human resource policies and procedures as well as federal state laws. The role involves the effective oversight of existing programs in accordance with established policies and procedures. The key to this position is a strong business partner who can build alliances by gaining respect among field managers and employees.

This position manages and is responsible for results delivered across organizational and geographic boundaries. This role directs management, professional and administrative staff at remote locations. Reporting to this position is a team of Human Resources generalists, and administrative staff. This position is responsible for developing, leading and directing the team to be committed to achieving objectives, providing internal consultation and promoting fair and equitable treatment for all employees. This role is also responsible for ensuring the availability of human capital necessary to accomplish planned business strategies and objectives of the organization. This position directs and ensures adherence to diversity objectives and compliance with all federal, state, and local government regulations. Achieves planned results within an organization's objectives, policies, and guidelines. Builds alliances through gaining respect among field managers and employees. Supports senior management in the development of solutions through cultural and process perspective organizational development. Provides oversight in the resolution of employee relations issues. Provides counsel and interpretation relative to best management and human resources practices.

Essential Functions

  • This position is responsible for contributing to the company-wide strategic human resource initiatives and program development

  • Plans and directs all phases of human resources for multiple functions and locations/accounts within a geographic area

  • Facilitates organization and leadership development efforts, working with employees and managers to address root causes of human resource issues

  • Functions as a strategic business partner, change agent and member of the line management staff

  • Additional key responsibilities include: Partner with the business team to drive practical solutions in the areas of employee relations, organizational development, talent management, compensation, diversity, benefits, training and staffing, safety and EEO compliance

  • Oversee all employee and labor relations to ensure an atmosphere of positive employee relations is maintained

  • Through coaching, counseling and training, improve the skill level of supervisors and managers in handling employee concerns, performance improvement actions and disciplinary actions

  • Work with central staffing function to ensure adequate staffing levels throughout the region

  • Manage the performance management and succession planning processes for the region

  • Work with the region's operating managers to establish and drive diversity initiatives

  • Facilitate communication to the field on all human resources items and coordinate the flow of information and feedback as appropriate

  • Assure compliance with all Federal, State, and local employment and labor laws

  • Create and support an environment that focuses on coaching and development

  • Identify talent gap issues and work with Human Resource colleagues and business partners in addressing viable solutions

  • This is a hand-on job where the incumbent is expected to be active and visible in the field organization

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated management/supervisory skills in a human resources leadership position

  • Broad Knowledge and experience of all areas of Human Resources, including Human Resource experience in a unionized environment

  • Proven track record of strong problem solving skills, continuous professional growth and active involvement in relevant professional organizations

  • Strong management skills

  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and build trusted credibility and strong working relationships

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent influencing and negotiating skills

  • Must possess overall service responsiveness to customers

  • Must demonstrate use of sound judgment and sensitivity in handling sensitive human resources issues and confidentiality


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Human Resources or related field

  • Master's degree preferred in a relevant field, such as an MBA or Master's in Human Resources

  • Ten (10) years or more in Human Resources required

  • Eight (8) years or more Labor experience required

Travel - 25% - 35% (estimated)

Compensation Information:

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Compensation ranges for the position are below:

Pay Type:

Salaried

Minimum Pay Range:

150,000

Maximum Pay Range:

180,000
