SERM Associate Medical Director

Provides medical/scientific expertise in the safety evaluation and risk management of key GSK assets in clinical development and/or the post-marketing setting. 

Ensures scientifically sound review and interpretation of data and management of safety issues and escalates safety issues identified through the safety review process to senior management and safety governance as appropriate. Makes recommendations for the further characterization, management, and communication of safety risks.

Focuses on efficiency and effectiveness to meet the needs of our Patients and HCPs.  Supporting the pharmacovigilance and benefit-risk management of the assigned portfolio of GSK global assets to ensure Patient Safety globally.

Key Responsibilities:

Scientific/Medical Expertise:

  • Responsible for Lead signal detection and evaluation for assigned products.
  • Drive production of global regulatory periodic safety reports, Risk Management Plans (RMPs), and SERM safety contributions to regulatory submissions.
  • Respond to audits and inspections, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Conduct literature reviews, analyze data, and make informed recommendations.

Cross-functional Leadership:

  • Support safety governance and Safety Review Teams (SRTs) across clinical and post‑marketing stages.
  • Ensure risk‑reduction strategies in study protocols and product labeling.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and contribute to SOP updates ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships within matrix teams.

Communication and Influence:

  • Present complex safety issues to senior governance committees.
  • Prepare detailed scientific evaluations and reports.
  • Exhibit strong negotiation and influencing skills to enable teams to understand perspectives and implement improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Medical Doctor (physician) preferred; equivalent qualifications (e.g., veterinarian/dentist) accepted with relevant pharmacovigilance (PV) experience.
    • Postgraduate qualifications in medical or scientific fields desirable.

  • Experience:
    • Substantial expertise in pharmacovigilance or drug development across clinical and post‑marketing settings.
    • Knowledge of international PV requirements (ICH, GVP, CIOMS) and drug approval processes.
    • Experience working in large matrix organizations.

The annual base salary in Poland for new hires in this position ranges from PLN 318,000 to PLN 530,000 gross, taking into account a number of factors including the candidate’s skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. Depending on the role and internal policies, the position may also be eligible for a bonus (if applicable and based on defined, non-discretionary criteria) and/or awards for exceptional performance (granted at the employer’s discretion). All statutory benefits will be maintained in accordance with Polish law. Other benefits may also be offered, which may include private healthcare, additional paid days off, life insurance, private pension plan and fully paid parental leave & care of family member leave. More detailed information on the total reward package applicable to your role will be supplied during the recruitment process.
