Team/Role Overview

Operational Risk Management (ORM) is an enterprise level independent risk management function responsible for enterprise-wide oversight and aggregation of operational risk across all Businesses/ Functions (or Material Legal Entity).  The ORM mission is to enable the bank to achieve its strategic objectives with robust operational risk frameworks and risk management principles while operating within defined risk appetite parameters. This role will support the ORM coverage of the UK Cluster that houses some of  Citigroup’s largest legal vehicles.

The Operation Risk Analyst is a developing professional role which integrates specialty knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices; demonstrates good understanding of how the team and area integrate with others in accomplishing the objectives of the subfunction/ job family. Applies analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies. Breaks down information in a systematic and communicable manner. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information.

Moderate but direct impact through close contact with the businesses' core activities. Quality and timeliness of service provided will affect the effectiveness of own team and other closely related teams.

What you’ll do

  • Participate in the application of the operational risk management framework to support effective oversight of operational risk management for the UK franchise.
  • Utilise data from across the risk management framework to monitor exceptions, identify themes and recommend actions to be taken.
  • Prepare high-quality written analysis using data-driven approaches.
  • Contribute to independent assurance reviews to identify root causes that lead to operational risk losses and challenge proposed corrective actions.
  • Develop relationships across global ORM to obtain insights from Business Coverage, Risk Category Owner and framework teams.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews on operational risk regulatory reports (e.g. PRA, COREP).
  • Support audits and regulatory examinations through the coordination and completion of information requests.
  • Engage with projects, special assignments, and other ad hoc activities as required.

What we’ll need from you

  • Demonstrated experience of operational risk management.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry practices for operational risk management preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment collaborating across diverse groups.
  • Proficient with using technology to perform data analysis and create presentations.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to quickly grasp and master new concepts / requirements and related product / functional knowledge.
