About the role:
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer with expertise in Ruby on Rails to join our dynamic team.
As a key member of the Codewars Team, it is required to have a strong background in both front-end and back-end development, be capable of designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable, and reliable code, and have a keen eye for detail and problem-solving.
The expectation of this role is developing new features and maintaining and scaling the existing application that provides our Andela Network with a great community of developers helping them to grow and escalate their coding skills.
Your primary focus will be on the functionality, performance, and security of the front and back-end applications.
You will work independently and in constant collaboration with cross-functional teams to take our team, product, and company to success. This includes taking ownership, participating in code reviews, spreading knowledge, and encouraging our team members to follow best practices ensuring high-quality results in a fast-paced and interactive environment. You will be able to learn, experiment, and innovate on the developments assigned to you.

Responsibilities:
Architect and design robust, scalable, and maintainable front-end and back-end systems using Ruby on Rails.
Lead the development and implementation of new features, ensuring code quality and adherence to best practices. Lead, participate and mentor the code reviews cycle to ensure code quality, consistency, and compliance with coding standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including full stack developers, product managers, and designers, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Optimize application performance and scalability to support a growing user base.
Conduct thorough application testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues promptly.
Develop and maintain APIs to facilitate seamless integration with third-party services and applications.
Stay up to date with the latest advancements in web development trends, incorporating relevant technologies and methodologies into the development process. Identify opportunities for process improvement, implementing automation and efficiency measures where applicable.
Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment within the team.
Requirements:
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
Proficiency in Ruby on Rails version 6 onwards.
Knowledge of MongoDB.
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript are required.
Knowledge of ReactJS, Vue.js and Angular frameworks is a plus.
Knowledge of server deployment and cloud infrastructure is a plus.
Demonstrated experience in driving growth and executing big impactful projects
Solid understanding of APIs, both consuming and integrating, along with the ability to quickly learn and utilize new APIs.
Self-directed and proactive mindset with a track record of independently delivering high-quality solutions and results.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate through ambiguity.
Comfortable with working in asynchronous, distributed and remote environments.
