Senior Director, Product Line Manager (OCS)


Job Description

As the Senior Director, Product Line Manager Optical Circuit Switches (OCS), you will play a pivotal role in defining products that address market and customer needs in the emerging Cloud and AI/ML market for OCSs. As a leader at Lumentum, you will work closely with the Engineering, Research and Development, Operations, and Sales teams to define and manage the OCS product line. Your responsibilities include evaluating opportunities within the market, with a specific focus on emerging high volume intra-datacenter applications.

To drive maximum value, you will enhance existing business models and introduce new ones. In addition, your role involves developing a strategic assessment of industry trends and developments to identify future business opportunities. Your will leverage your expertise to identify and evaluate new product opportunities that align with our organizational goals.

This position requires a dynamic leader with a willingness and ability to learn quickly about this emerging space and a proven track record in strategic market positioning and business model innovation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Define OCS requirements for optical,  chassis-level and software for key applications.
  • Exhibit ownership of Profit and Loss performance of the product line, including building customer accounts and new business opportunities, and driving the engineering team to deliver against program objectives and determine the strategy for capturing dominant market share in this space.
  • Plan innovative product roadmap that addresses the dynamic needs of the key growth markets while maximizing value for customers and ROI for the portfolio.
  • Assess the market ecosystem including competitor positions, product strategies, segmentation, go-to-market strategy, and current/future product direction. Clearly identify Lumentum product differentiation in this ecosystem.
  • Identify product-market-fit, including product performance, commercial and pricing aspects, for current and future OCS products.
  • Customer visits to to gain deeper insights into their needs and develop tailored solutions.
  • Define and drive market communication strategy for Lumentum OCS products including whitepapers, industry forum participation and press releases.
  • Screen potential business opportunities by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities.
  • Provide market intelligence on investment and industry trends to enable a more focused marketing effort and shape product strategy.
  • Collaborate with other departments and define the product specifications, required resources, and outside vendor relationships in the development of new products.
  • Evangelize within Lumentum for our OCSs and market opportunities.
