A Brief Overview
Under limited supervision, work with Pricing, Underwriting, Claims, Data Scientists and other relevant function teams to analyze business and functional requirements and establish processes related to the acquisition, onboarding, and management of internal and external data for data-driven initiatives. Assists in evaluation of business requests to determine requirements, recommend analytic solutions, and communicate the value of data solutions to the enterprise.
What you will do
- Assists to develop, validate, document, and maintain business and functional requirements and process workflows associated with new data solutions with business and project team members.
- Works with project teams to support key initiatives via: Analyzing data needs in support of key strategic initiatives; Facilitating and educating business units about current data assets; Helping develop data strategy plans to acquire new data assets.
- Develop robust data models and schemas within Snowflake to support analytical workloads.
- Analyzes existing and new data sources in support of expanding and improving the data driven culture within RGA
- Builds business case templates to support department and organizational decision-making for future use cases and solutions.
- Creates meaningful data visualizations and/or advanced wireframes that effectively articulate their story to colleagues and executives.
- Responds to questions from business and IT teams.
- Assists in evaluation of and tracking of new or enhanced solutions to determine potential issues and communicates how problems may affect business and recommends solutions.
- Assists in performing task automation and implements process improvements; recommends enhancements that result in increased quality and service.
- Data Understanding: When presented with specialist datasets, carry out the full spectrum of data analysis, from the development of statistical and/or machine learning analysis plans and design of the database schema, through data cleansing and into the creation of new insights and knowledge based on thorough and deep analysis of the data.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related field required.
- Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related field preferred.
- 5+ Years reporting/advanced analytic/business intelligence related experience, such as Business Analysis, Data Analysis, Statistical Analysis etc.
- 5+ Years of experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
- Advanced PC and technical skills, including statistical programs (ex.: R, SAS, MATLAB, or Python), spreadsheets (VBA) and database applications (Access, Oracle, SQL or equivalent technology).
- Advanced SQL expertise and hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools.
- Proficient with major cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Experience with predictive modeling and automation is a plus.
- Experience in Insurance and Actuarial knowledge will be preferred.
- Advanced knowledge in econometrics, statistics, math and/or computational finance.
- Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.
- Ability to work well within a team environment, participate in department/team projects and balance detail with departmental objectives.
- Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received.
- Strong ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
