Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Compliance Manager, Compliance Monitoring supports the Head of Monitoring and Head of Compliance Oversight in fulfilling their responsibilities defined under the RBC Regulatory Compliance Management Framework. 

Working hours : 9.00AM -6.00PM

What will you do?

  • Assessing the adequacy of, adherence to, and the effectiveness of the day-to-day controls to manage regulatory compliance risk; and
  • Providing an opinion on the effectiveness of the Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) controls in achieving compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support development and execute the Compliance Monitoring Plan, including continuous improvements, enhancements, and efficiencies.
  • Design, evaluate, oversee and assess new and existing compliance monitoring tasks which may include regular and ad hoc reviews, to ensure they meet current and new regulations.
  • Support the activities of the Compliance team and champion the embedding of a compliance awareness culture throughout the business.
  • Design, evaluate, oversee and assess new and existing compliance monitoring tasks.
  • Carry out 2LoD monitoring tasks as required by the Compliance Monitoring Plan as well as other ad hoc project and reporting work which may arise. 
  • Escalate and report any concerns identified to the Head of Compliance Monitoring, where possible providing plans/recommendations to mitigate risks/issues.
  • Ensure the Head of Monitoring and other relevant stakeholders within Head Office (UK) are kept appraised via regular interactions and or, ad hoc touch points.
  • Actively seek and identify viable areas of monitoring (and wider CMP), which stand to benefit from data driven testing and or, deployment of AI and automation.   
  • Production of high-quality MI.
  • Maintain knowledge on industry developments, regulatory changes, company policies and procedures as appropriate to effectively discharge the role.
  • If and where capacity allows, there may be a requirement to discharge some Wealth Management compliance monitoring, albeit with a limited scope.
     

What do you need to succeed?

Must- have

  • Solid experience in the financial services industry in Compliance monitoring, Testing, Internal Audit or at a financial institutions regulator
  • Experience in Capital Markets, fund management and data analytics
  • Experience as Compliance Manager and/or related discipline i.e. Risk & Compliance
  • Deep knowledge of compliance monitoring methodologies and/or audit experience
  • A Knowledge of FCA (and prevailing, relevant domestic and local) rules and regulations 
  • Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills
  • Excellent collaboration and team-building skills

Nice-to-have

  • Higher level qualifications such as bachelor degree, or Master Degree( or equivalents) are desirable
  • CISI or ICA qualifications are desirable
