As a Senior Technical Writer on our team, you will help our users understand and navigate Strata’s software products by creating clear and user-friendly documentation, guides, and UI content. Every day, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality materials that enhance the customer experience. To thrive in this role, you must excel at transforming complex technical information into easy-to-understand content, managing multiple priorities, and embracing a collaborative approach.

In this role, you will:

  • Create online help, release notes, and in-product walkthrough guides.
  • Partner with Engineering and UI/UX teams to craft intuitive UI text.
  • Continuously improve and update existing documentation to enhance usability.
  • Manage multiple documentation projects, meeting deadlines and adapting to urgent needs.
  • Mentor teammates and contribute to the development of internal processes.
  • Develop and publish customer-facing documentation for software applications.
  • Interpret technical requirements and user stories into clear, concise content.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to gather input.
  • Apply single-sourcing strategies to maximize content efficiency.
  • Use tools like MadCap Flare to publish, test, and troubleshoot help projects.
  • Contribute to the team by offering ideas for process improvements and content innovation.

A Day in the Life:

  • Kick off the day reviewing updates in Jira/ADO to identify priorities for the week.
  • Meet with Product Owners or Engineers to clarify details about new features or functionality.
  • Draft or revise online help topics and UI text, ensuring consistency with style guidelines.
  • Use MadCap Flare to publish help updates and verify links and content functionality.
  • Document internal processes or mentor team members on tool usage.
  • Wrap up by checking project timelines and updating scope estimates in Confluence.

What we’re looking for:

  • 3–5+ years of experience creating software documentation, including online help and release notes.
  • Proficiency with tools like MadCap Flare/Central, Azure DevOps, Jira, SnagIt, and Confluence.
  • Strong writing, grammar, and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
  • Experience working in a SAFe Agile environment.
  • Bonus: Experience with in-product training platforms like WalkMe or Pendo and creating content for healthcare, education, or financial software.

How we work:
The preferred location for this role is in Chicago, IL or St. Louis, MO. We value our people spending time together and have campuses hosting in-person events located in both cities. We are truly a hybrid environment with all team members experiencing the flexibility to work from home.

Thinking about applying?
Research shows that women and underrepresented groups tend to apply to jobs only when they check every box on a job posting. If you’re currently reading this and hesitating to click “Apply” for that reason, we encourage you to go for it! A true passion and excitement for making an impact is just as important as work experience.

Should you require a reasonable accommodation in completing this application, interviewing, completing any pre-employment testing, or otherwise participating in the employee selection process, please reach out to [email protected].
