We are currently looking for a Cloud Engineering intern to join us in Brno. You will join an agile team and get the opportunities to experience an open team culture developing software dedicated to improving the reliability of our Open Source Kubernetes-based platforms (OpenShift). You will develop your Linux skills beyond the standard flavors and into the new-world of CoreOS - a highly-optimized immutable flavor of Red Hat’s Linux distribution to deploy/maintain container workloads. During this internship you will improve your programming and automation skills by implementing software targeting the resolution and prevention of operational challenges faced by our OpenShift team.

  • Flexible working hours, on average 20 hours/week

  • Start date on February 1st, 2025

In this role, you will work in an environment where diverse perspectives are invited, the best ideas are valued, and people feel empowered to contribute. Freedom and courage are two of our core values, which is why you can practice taking risks and exploring the unknown and developing strengths. Yet being a Red Hatter isn't just about being brave; it's also about demonstrating commitment and sticking to it.

The focus for Red Hat's Intern Program is a dual partnership between the Emerging Talent Team, and our intern managers. We can offer you professional development, social engagement and networking, performance and development, and meaningful work throughout your time at Red Hat.

Job responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver automation source code to be used in production Kubernetes systems

  • Design, implement, and document test scenarios to improve reliability on the target systems

  • Attend team meetings and present to and train our OpenShift engineers on the improvements to our testing framework

  • Assist the team in troubleshooting real-world production issues affecting internal Red Hat development teams

Required skills:

  • Must be currently enrolled in 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor's degree or in a Master's degree in an accredited university program in the Czech Republic  during the full duration of the internship

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Talented programmer in Python; programming experience in Ansible is a plus

  • Knowledge of source control basics in Git

  • Knowledgeable of Linux systems

  • Linux scripting experience is a plus

  • Knowledge on testing concepts is a plus

Please note that due to a limited number of internship opportunities and high volume of applicants, we can not guarantee that we will be able to speak with each of you. It is very important that your CV shows all your education, projects and other activities, otherwise you might be rejected before the round of screening interviews. You can find tips and recommendations in this article.
