PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team / Program Support
- Implementation of program, departmental and protocols at the Field Case manager level;
- Review and audit of all protocols related to the Field Case manager team, including update of relevant clinical SOPs;
- Collaboration with the Program Manager to identify efficiency improvements; increase skill and knowledge level of Hepatitis field team;
- Day to day operational management of Field Case Managers regarding support and training, Front line support to the Field Case Manager team in clarifying nursing issues and administrative processes;
- Participation in formal and informal performance appraisals, in conjunction with the Program Manager;
- Collaboration and participation in monthly team meetings and client meetings, as necessary;
- Maintain line of communication with Program Manager on all activities and attend in office meetings / activities, as required
- Reports Adverse Events / Severe Adverse Events following program Standard Operating Procedures.
- With the manager, participate in the hiring and training process of new staff;
- Assistance and back up to the Associate Program Manager;
- Recommends corrective actions to program manager when project deliverables deviate from the work plan, with the assistance of his/hers team members.
Physician Support
- In collaboration with pharmaceutical sales team, develop and maintain strong working relationships with physicians and physician office staff;
- Facilitation and securing of informed patient consent for enrollment into a patient assistance programs;
- Medical records / chart auditing to determine treatment eligible patients;
- Obtaining from charts and patients all information required to secure reimbursement for prescribed treatment;
- Reviews patient status and assists the prescribing physician to complete patient enrolment, prepare Special Authorization (SA) petitions for public or private coverage by reviewing patient charts, assessing previous therapies and tests in order to complete the SA;
- Facilitation of additional physician office support required to ensure smooth initiation/maintenance of therapy for all patients enrolled in the patient assistance programs;
- In close collaboration with physician and physician office staff, develop treatment plans and assist patients navigate through their treatment plan and optimize their overall treatment plan and health outcomes as required;
- Adherence to College of Nurses standards of nursing practices;
- Travel as required within assigned territory – typically not involving overnight travel except for some training, field shadowing/audits and/or scheduled client meetings; and
- Maintaining lines of communication with the patient assistance program manager, physicians, physician office staff, client representatives, patients, and all other applicable teams
- Customizes program elements to meet the needs of assigned prescribing physicians and programs;
- Liaison between physician and call-center Case Managers, for patient follow up, paperwork and medical clarification for patients in designated territory;
- Meetings with KOLs as needed;
- Welcomes each patient to the program (conducts Welcome call) and captures required patient information;
- Ensures patient services are coordinated and tracked, according to KPI’s, resulting in expedited access to therapy;
- Coordinates private and public coverage activity directly with insurers following program Standard Operating Procedures;
- Follow up with patient the outcome of reimbursement navigation;
- Provide information and navigate patient through financial assistance and/or other client initiatives;
- Assist patient with pharmacy selection and coordinate drug delivery;
- Assist patient with coordination of therapy and ongoing patient monitoring;
Client Interface
- Participates in scheduled KOL physician meetings with and without client Therapeutic Specialist territory
- Align with client office staff, and client Therapeutic Specialist territory to understand marketing messaging and strategy, and disseminate information to the Field Case Manager team and programs manager
- Proactively provides assistance to resolve client issues with regards to assigned physicians;
- Attends scheduled Continuous Medical Education events and reports new activities;
- Proactively assesses programs and makes suggestions to enhance outcomes and quality of service;
- Provides in service presentation to KOL physicians in collaboration with the Therapeutic Specialist territory on new program initiatives;
Field Support
- Maintain Field Case manager caseload;
- Train new Field Case manager(s) on Programs and program initiatives;
- Regular shadowing with Field Case manager for support, ongoing training and messaging;
- Completes all relevant reports (time sheets, expenses, program specific reports etc.) as per specified timelines and as per required standards.
- The Senior Field Case Manager, will also be assigned other duties and tasks as required from time to time.
- May be required to be on standby/ on call as part of this role.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor’s degree or registered nurse (RN) diploma, advanced degree or specific practice management experience preferred;
- Registration with the College of Nurses in the province of employment is required
- Normally requires a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years in public or private third party reimbursement arena or pharmaceutical industry in sales, managed care, or clinical support;
- Certification as a Gastroenterology (CGN) or Infection Control & Prevention (CIC) Nurse, or working towards certification an asset for some programs;
- CLS may be required;
- Background in business administration, sales and marketing an asset;
- Pharmaceutical sales experience an asset;
- Be available between the hours of 8:00AM to 8:00PM, with the ability to maintain flexible working hours to accommodate client’s schedule;
- Knowledge of private and public reimbursement structure, systems, and process;
- Experience with reimbursement navigation, special authorization, appeals process and conducting field-based reimbursement support and consultation;
- Fluency in French, English and/or Cantonese/Mandarin may be required depending on program and geographic location.

- Advanced knowledge of pharmaceutical distribution industry
- Working knowledge of automated warehouse operating system

- Ability to make decisions using sound judgment;
Ability to work autonomously; - Superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and attention to detail;
- Hold and maintain a valid, non-expired, unrestricted driver’s license
