We are looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join Red Hat's Image Builder team to work on improving the Image Builder service. This service is used internally during the development of RHEL and by customers via console.redhat.com. Some knowledge — but more importantly a lot of curiosity — about how Linux distributions are put together and delivered to Red Hat’s customers and open source communities is required. On the Image Builder team you will work in a friendly and collaborative atmosphere, figuring out how things work and solving hard problems. Everyone on the team works remotely, across multiple time zones. Thus, the location and work hours for this position are flexible. However, applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.
Design and develop features for Image Builder that solve user and customer problems
Help maintain and operate the Image Builder service
Communicate with peer engineers within your team and Red Hat, as well as in relevant Open Source communities
Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering, Quality Engineering, Support, Product Management, User Experience, and Documentation teams
Knowledge and curiosity about how Linux operating systems are assembled and used in various environments
Strong problem solving skills
Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to work effectively in a remote team
The following are considered a plus
Experience developing software professionally
Experience with developing and running a service at scale is a strong plus (AWS, Kubernetes, OpenShift etc)
Experience in Go, Typescript, and React would be a plus
