What you'll do...

Position: Staff Software Engineer

Job Location: 640 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086

Duties: Design and automate Walmart's own sophisticated cloud infrastructure installation, deployment, and configuration necessary to host mission critical Ecommerce workloads. Extensive research and development on technology that supports Walmart Cloud infrastructure. Design and implement internal tools that helps in managing and monitoring Walmart Cloud Infrastructure. Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of latest technologies for application in Cloud Infrastructure. Performs POC (proof of concept) activities looking at the various technologies in the industry and selects solutions that enable cloud teams to be more efficient and reduce overall delivery times while bending the cost curve. Design and operate the solution to improve the performance of critical applications by fixing at infrastructure level. Work with latest and deep-rooted cloud technologies to improve the Walmart Cloud Infrastructure Efficiency. Manage and maintains multiple production and non-production Cloud environments, ensuring that these environments are setup with the standard automated build process and deliver with quality. Develop and maintain the automation tools that Walmart Cloud Infrastructure rely on. Day to day Cloud build, deployment, and maintenance support for the individual track for production and nonproduction cloud environments. Work with multiple different industry leading hardware vendors to benchmark the performance of Open stack hypervisors and determine the best hardware specs for Walmart's cloud infrastructure. Support stress test and work with application teams to identify and fix software/hardware issues as they arise. Install and Manage SSL Certificate updates and fix Security Vulnerabilities identified in cloud infrastructure. Keep Cloud Environments updated with latest version of Open stack version's and security patches. Monitor the health of instances, environments, timelines, Cross Functional Works with Site Ops, Network, Storage, Systems, Datacenter, Monitoring and Application teams to ensure the smooth application deployment in Cloud infrastructure. Research Performance tuning opportunities in cloud infrastructure and enable additional features. Participate in the design and implementation of observability Solutions for cloud Infrastructure.    

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering (any), Computer Science or related area and 6 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment OR Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering (any), Computer Science or related area and 3 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment.

Skills required: Experience designing and implementing REST API. Experience coding in Object Oriented Programming language in Java and frameworks including J2EE, Hibernate or GO. Experience in Open stack and Public cloud including Azure, GCP, or AWS. Experience in programming and scripting languages Shell and Python. Experience managing Linux environment Unix, Solaris, and Ubuntu. Experience with Hardware/OS Build. Experience supporting large scale, highly available, production Linux environment. Experience developing automated solutions for large cloud infrastructure in Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, and Docker. Experience in networking concepts including TCP, IP, VLANs, Load balancing, and Network Packet Analyzer. Experience in monitoring Tools Prometheus, Dynatrace, and Splunk. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.

Salary Range: $174,518/year to $286,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.   Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
