About you and this role:
Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Operator in Orange, Texas within Sabine River Operations (SRO).
In this role, you will utilize operations knowledge and experience, to proactively operate the plant in a safe, reliable, and optimal manner. You will work with shift team members to efficiently anticipate and resolve unplanned events within the capabilities of the shift team and effectively escalates issues that cannot be resolved to the appropriate support roles.
Responsibilities:
Follow Operating Discipline policies, principles, procedures, standards and practices to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of assigned plant areas
Operate process equipment by monitoring process conditions, key performance metrics, field equipment and control systems. Making appropriate decisions to maintain and/or achieve desired rates and conditions aligned with Plant/Site/Business goals
Serve on site Emergency Response Team (ERT) and attend all required training (Fire Response, HAZMAT, Medical, etc)
Conduct effective shift relief, as defined in facility specific operating discipline and tools, to ensure effective communication and handoff to arriving shift team
Use process knowledge and skills to improve plant performance and operating discipline. Proactively identify improvements and opportunities utilizing facility improvement processes, appropriate management of change processes and communication tools
Maintain qualifications in assigned areas, per facility policy, and complete training goals in a timely manner. This includes using discretionary time to address skills and knowledge gaps
Mentor and train new and existing operations personnel on process operation, optimization, effective troubleshooting, emergency response and the use of operating discipline in alignment to plant's training process
Perform scheduled operational and related tasks and unscheduled tasks that arise because of unplanned/non-routine events
Perform Immediate Response/Severe Weather Response activities, as assigned
Tracks and utilizes the plant's key performance metrics on shift that are applicable to the Operating the Plant role to optimize operations and identify improvement opportunities. Uses process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and operating discipline. Proactively identifies improvements and opportunities utilizing the facility improvement processes, appropriate management of change processes and communication tools
Performs Autonomous Maintenance, including minor repairs and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate policies, procedures, processes and disciplines. Note: Subject to local agreements
Qualifications:
A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and one of the following:
Associate degree or higher in Process Plant Technology or related field
2 or more years of experience within a Chemical, Manufacturing or Petrochemical environment
In lieu of a degree Dow will consider those with 3 or more years of relevant military experience
Successful candidates must be able to work 12-hour rotating shift schedule and work overtime as required, including Holidays and Weekends
Must have valid US Driver’s License
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process

Troubleshooting (Problem-Solving): Strong skills in troubleshooting failures and evaluating equipment designs to ensure they meet service conditions
Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external partners
Collaboration: The ability to lead by influence and work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds to achieve common goals
Time Management: Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently
The physical abilities, with or without reasonable accommodations, include:
Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground greater than or equal to four feet
Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), such as earplugs, goggles, respirators. and steel-toed shoe, including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs
Stand or walk for extended periods of time
Lift a maximum of 50 lbs
