Role overview

The Pricing Intern will support the Japan Pricing team with a variety of analytical, research, and operational tasks. This role is designed to give students hands‑on exposure to reinsurance pricing, actuarial modelling, product features, and data analytics. You will work closely with pricing actuaries and gain practical experience in a professional actuarial environment.

Key duties and responsibilities

Pricing support

  • Assist with product reviews, summarizing key features and benefits
  • Support AXIS model runs, including simple checks and execution under guidance
  • Support preparation of basic pricing documentation or internal summaries

Research and assumption support

  • Research academic papers, market materials, and external sources to support assumption development
  • Summarize research findings into short internal write‑ups
  • Support experience analysis (simple trend tables, summaries)

Operational and team support

  • Assist with translation tasks (Japanese ↔ English) as needed
  • Support the team with ad‑hoc pricing tasks, data requests, and project work
  • Participate in internal meetings and training to build understanding of pricing workflow

Required qualifications and attributes

Education

  • University student or recent graduate
  • Preferred majors: mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, data science, or related fields

Skills and competencies

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Comfortable with Excel; interest in AXIS or programming tools is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills and a cooperative team mindset

Others

  • Passing the first stage of actuarial exams (IAJ/SOA/IAA equivalent) is a plus
  • Fluency in Japanese language
  • English proficiency is preferred
