Summary:

The IT Team supports and develops multiple externally or internally developed applications. Work to these applications is accomplished through the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and managed through subsequent Feature Teams (FT). Each feature team is led by a combination of a Scrum Master, Product Owner, and Lead Developer. The Scrum master primarily focuses on adherence to the agreed agile process and procedures while providing servant leadership, training, and coaching to the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates and schedules ceremonies to support SAFe framework for their assigned FTs including but not limited to daily standups, planning activities, and retros/reflections.
  • Assists with planning and facilitation of PI Planning events and ensures assigned FTs understands the purpose and goals of the event to be able to participate fully.
  • Facilitates completion of work assignments, estimation, planning, or dictating work assignments to build a high performing team.
  • Facilitates discussion, decision making, team building and conflict resolution.
  • Works to alleviate administrative tasks from the FT when possible to foster continuous flow of work and improved efficiencies.
  • Removes roadblocks by taking the right course of action to reach the goal and/or by leading the team on appropriate course of action.
  • Collaborates and supports the Product Owner to groom and maintain the product backlog.
  • Supports Product Owner to ensure proper balance between features and high-quality working software to maximize ROI and ensure the organization’s objects are met.
  • Ensures quality of agile execution, work items, definition of readiness and done, commitments on-time delivery.
  • Builds a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving.
  • Provides support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible and lead by example by employing active listening, empathy, and awareness.
  • Promotes and helps improve existing agile environment by being a mentor for agile principles to all levels of personnel.
  • Upholds and abides by scrum pillars of transparency, inspection, and adaption.
  • Analyzes progress with metrics, monitoring of boards, and review of reports to be aware of the progress in current iteration, proactively watches for any challenges/issues, and uses knowledge to foster improvement and hold team accountable.
  • Capacity monitoring and planning to utilize team resources appropriately.
  • Actively keeps team focused on current Sprint and PI goals and monitors transparency of release vision.
  • Reports to Release Train Engineer and works with ART team to continually improve SAFe practices and effectiveness of Scrum.
  • Any other duties as assigned

  • Strong leadership skills and advocates Agile culture and mindset.
  • Great interpersonal skills, ability to teach, inspire and motivate.
  • Shows a high degree of strong and positive Emotional Intelligence and ability to use it effectively to manage the stakeholders and team.
  • Ability to work with multiple teams and prioritize work as needed.
  • Be comfortable to work in fast paced environment with changing priorities
  • Have a strong Agile background with several different methodologies, such as Scrum, Kanban, TDD, DSDM, XP, etc.
  • Have a technical IT background
  • Ability to identify and build Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the performance.
