Job Summary:

The Engineer Trainee Associate is a progressive training program which could take up to three (3) years. When properly licensed and scheduled to work in the power plant, this position takes charge of the heating plant and makes adjustments to building systems that affect the entire facility. When not scheduled to work in the power plant, this position modifies and repairs building systems and equipment.

  • 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week period)
  • Primarily day shifts (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) but may require occasional evening and night shifts depending on business needs.

Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities

  • Assists Operating and Maintenance Engineer or other qualified staff.
    • Help with boiler plant duties, running the HVAC systems and performing both preventative and corrective maintenance work.
    • Assists with cleaning and maintaining shop area, equipment and tools.
    • Report hazards and/or potential work hazards in our facilities in order to prevent injury to self, peers, patients, and visitors.
    • Performs preventative maintenance work orders and ensures equipment exceeds industry average life expectancy ratings.
    • May work out on the hospital floors completing daily work requests.
    • May operate trucks to plow snow and lawn equipment.
    • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description, and High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Licensed Boilermaker-Engineer - MN Department of Labor & Industry required MN Special Boiler's License or higher within 30 Days
  • Licensed Boilermaker-Engineer - MN Department of Labor & Industry required MN 1st Class B or higher at the end of the program
  • Valid Driver’s License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver’s license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment
