  • Hours per week: 38 (34.2 at St Vincent’s Public Hospital, 3.8 at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney)

About the role 

 

We seek a highly motivated lawyer to provide legal advice and support to the New South Wales hospitals of St Vincent’s Health Australia. 

 

Your portfolio will be St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney, Sacred Heart Health Service, The Mater Hospital North Sydney, and St Vincent’s Private Community Hospital Griffith. 

  • Report to and work closely with the Executive Director of Legal and Risk 

  • Manage and provide direction to one Risk Specialist 

  • Provide legal advice including under various legislation in respect of key risk exposures 

  • Support compliance across all relevant legislative requirements within areas of responsibility 

  • Coordinate responses to subpoenas and assist with the management of claims 

  • Draft, review, and advise on a range of contracts across the organisation 

  • Work with the research office to review a range of research contracts including clinical trial agreements 

  • Work with the Senior Leadership Team on the evaluation and structuring of business opportunities 

 

About you 

  • At least 6 years’ experience as a lawyer drafting, reviewing and advising on contracts 

  • Good attention to detail 

  • Excellent drafting skills 

  • Ability to work under pressure and tight timelines 

  • Ability to coordinate with all levels of management and to provide commercial solutions to problems 

  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple stake holders
