Role Overview

Reporting into the Enterprise Data Management lead, the Data Domain Lead (MM/ BP), governance, and operational excellence of Master Data Management (MDM) within assigned business domain.

The role acts as the primary interface between business stakeholders, data governance, and technology teams, ensuring that master data is trusted, governed, scalable, and aligned with enterprise strategy. The Domain Lead establishes strong data stewardship communities, leads data quality initiatives, and ensures effective implementation and continuous improvement of MDM processes, platforms, and governance frameworks.

This role leads a team of MDM analysts and partners with global business functions to translate business requirements into scalable MDM solutions, transitioning projects into sustainable operational models while driving data quality, compliance, and process optimization.

Key Accountabilities

1. Domain Ownership & Business Partnership

  • Serve as the strategic MDM Business Partner for assigned data domains.
  • Own domain-level master data governance, data quality, and process frameworks.
  • Align MDM strategy with business objectives and enterprise data strategy.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for domain master data issues and improvement initiatives.
  • Translate business needs into actionable data initiatives and transformation roadmaps.

2. Master Data Governance & Process Leadership

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve master data governance processes, standards, and policies.
  • Lead adoption and integration of MDM best practices across business functions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, operational, and audit requirements.
  • Define domain data ownership, stewardship models, and accountability structures.
  • Establish scalable workflows supporting master data lifecycle management.

3. Data Quality & Operational Excellence

  • Lead domain-level data quality strategy including monitoring, remediation, and continuous improvement.
  • Define and track data quality KPIs, metrics, and service level agreements.
  • Drive root cause analysis and resolution of master data issues across systems and processes.
  • Implement preventive data quality controls and automation capabilities.
  • Promote process efficiency, reliability, and standardization across global operations.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Community Leadership

  • Lead and facilitate global data steward communities across business domains.
  • Build strong partnerships with:
    • Business Functions
    • Centers of Excellence
    • Data Governance Organization
    • IT and Digital teams
  • Drive communication, knowledge sharing, and training programs related to MDM governance and standards.
  • Support change management initiatives and promote data culture and awareness.

5. MDM Platform & Solution Enablement

  • Collaborate with technical teams to define requirements, prioritize enhancements, and support solution delivery for MDM platforms such as:
    • Reltio
    • SAP MDG (MDG-M, MDG-BP)
    • Other MDM and workflow tools
  • Ensure successful transition of MDM initiatives from project phase into operational support models.
  • Provide business domain input into platform strategy and roadmap development.

6. Team Leadership & Capability Development

  • Lead and develop a team of MDM analysts and domain specialists.
  • Define team priorities, performance metrics, and development plans.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Manage day-to-day delivery of MDM operational services and project support activities.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Experience

  • 8+ years experience in Master Data Management, Data Governance, or Data Quality roles.
  • MGD Functional Expertise
  • Experience working within global and cross-functional environments.
  • Proven experience leading MDM or data governance initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience transitioning data projects into operational models.
  • Prior people leadership or matrix team leadership experience preferred.

Technical & Functional Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of enterprise MDM platforms such as:
    • SAP MDG (MDG-M, MDG-BP)
    • Reltio
    • Informatica MDM
    • Stibo
  • Experience with SAP master data processes and enterprise data landscapes.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, workflows, and data lifecycle management.
  • Exposure to multiple business domains and domain data relationships.

Education & Languages
