Position Summary

The HR Business Partner is a trusted strategic advisor to leaders within Vizient’s Consulting Business Unit, supporting a fast-paced, client-driven consulting environment. This role aligns HR support with business priorities, anticipates talent needs, and delivers practical people solutions that enable consultants to focus on high-quality client delivery. Reporting to the Lead HRBP for the Consulting Business Unit, the HR Business Partner helps support scale, manage change, and ensures the consulting workforce is positioned for success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with Consulting BU leaders as a trusted advisor, providing practical, business-focused HR/talent guidance and supports client delivery and team performance
  • Anticipate business needs and talent implications by staying closely connected to consulting trends, workforce dynamics, and evolving priorities
  • Drive integrated people solutions in partnership with consulting leadership and HR Centers of Excellence (e.g., Organizational Effectiveness, Talent Acquisition, Talent Enablement, Compensation & Benefits, etc.), addressing key priorities such as retention, engagement, change management, leadership capability, and consultant development
  • Support performance management processes for assigned consulting teams, including mid-year and year-end review process and performance improvement plans, as needed
  • Oversee Counselor assignments for aligned consulting teams, ensuring strong developmental support and accountability
  • Champion a cohesive consultant experience across the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding through advancement
  • Ensure sound employee relations and compliance, manage terminations and exit interviews, partnering with Employee Relations and Legal as needed
  • Strengthen bench and retention of key talent through succession planning, career pathing, leadership development, team-building, and targeted coaching
  • Partner with Learning & Development and Organizational Effectiveness teams on identifying training needs and other initiatives that enhance collaboration, execution and performance across consulting teams

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years as an HR Business Partner or in a comparable strategic advisory role
  • High-energy, entrepreneurial mindset with a strong interest in supporting fast-paced, client-driven consulting teams
  • Deep knowledge of HR best practices and organizational effectiveness, with the ability to apply them pragmatically in a consulting environment
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills, with confidence engaging leaders at all levels
  • Proven ability to think strategically and execute with precision, balancing big-picture perspective with hands-on delivery
  • Experience supporting change and talent initiatives, including engagement, retention, and leadership development
  • Strong analytical and storytelling skills, with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint to analyze data, develop insights, and communicate recommendations clearly
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and credibility quickly with senior leaders and key stakeholders
  • Exercises sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information and sensitive employee matters, approaching complex situations with professionalism, objectivity, and a pragmatic, solutions-oriented mindset

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Work Environment

  • Occasional travel required (1-2x/year)
  • The role is based in Chicago in a hybrid work environment. We are in office 3 days/week.

Estimated Hiring Range:

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $117,600.00 to $206,000.00.
