PDT Partners, a quantitative investment manager, seeks an analytical, productive, detail-loving Fund Accountant to join our Finance, Accounting and Treasury (“FACT”) team.

This is a great opportunity to hone existing accounting, analysis, and reporting skills, while diving deeply into the financial operations of a global hedge fund. Responsibilities will range from fund accounting and financial statement preparation to tax compliance and strategy. The Fund Accountant will work closely with the team, Chief Financial Officer, as well as with our fund operations, legal and compliance, investor relations, and operational risk management groups.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the team on rotating responsibilities:
    • Create mid-month and end-of-month NAV packs that include NAV calculations that shadow the Administrator
    • Review cash, dividend, and P&L reconciliations in support of the NAV reconciliations
    • Participate on year-end audit and preparation of financials for the funds
    • Participate on year-end tax compliance
    • Cover treasury responsibilities (maintaining adequate margin at counterparties and understanding margin rules and methodologies)
    • Liaising with the prime brokers, administrator, and auditors
    • Prepare certain regulatory filings (Form PF, PQR, BE-185, etc)
    • Provide financial data for third parties, including investors and trading counterparties
    • Participate on new product launches and integration into existing fund accounting systems
    • Lead ad hoc projects to improve efficiencies or revamp processes in the group

 Qualifications

  • 4 - 6 years accounting experience
    • Preferably at a top-tier public accounting firm and covering investment managers
  • Excellent problem-solving and research skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong organizational and execution skills
  • Highly-proficient in Excel
  • Knowledge of Geneva or similar accounting system

Education:    

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics or related fields from an excellent academic program.

The salary range for this role is between $150,000 and $200,000. This range is not inclusive of any potential bonus amounts.  Factors that may impact the agreed upon salary within the range for a particular candidate include years of experience, level of education obtained, skill set, and other external factors.
