The Financial Accountant is responsible for corporate accounting operations, including financial reporting, month-end closing processes, performing fluctuation analyses on the trial balance, and certain shared service functions for MIMTA. The ideal candidate will be an experienced accountant with knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, accounting, financial reporting systems, and possess strong analytical experience. This candidate will work as a key team member with peers, and report directly to the Senior Manager of MBPS A&R WAM Nort America
Position Responsibilities:
Second level review (back up) for weekly payment of vendor invoices
Prepare and record monthly journal entries.
Maintain and update fixed assets and expense deferral modules.
Reconcile inter-company revenue, expense, and balance sheet accounts monthly.
Prepare and record monthly parent company expense billings and parent company chargebacks.
Perform monthly data feed from MIMTA ledger system to parent company ledger system.
Review monthly reporting packages of subsidiaries.
Prepare Capital Spending Reporting to IT department.
Prepare general ledger account reconciliations.
Prepare monthly business council financial reporting and send out to business unit leads.
Prepare quarterly billings including internal legal, director travel and client receivables.
Prepare annual tax questionnaires.
Assist with information requests from internal and external auditors.
Prepare the MIMTA insurance applications, accruals and true-up.
Special projects as they arise.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business/Finance/Accounting.
Minimum of 3 years of direct, relevant experience.
Hybrid Work Arrangement: Amenability and readiness to work onsite and from home anytime (dependent on business need AND/OR current external environment/situation) and must be willing to work on a day/mid shift schedule
Demonstrated proficiency with accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, policies & procedures, and knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
Excellent problem-solving skills with complex accounting issues.
Ability to learn and use multiple systems to derive answers to financial questions.
Ability to recognize urgent/important tasks and prioritize them accordingly.
Self-motivated; strong commitment to get the job/task down well and on-time in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Must be able to work independently, as a teammate, and as a team builder with a focus on developing others.

Previous experience in public accounting and/or previous experience as an Accountant on a corporate accounting team is preferred
Previous experience with Esker, Lawson, SharePoint, and/or workflow automation tools that pertain to areas of accounting and contracts is preferred
