This position will be a hybrid work arrangement. You will receive 18 remote workdays per quarter to use at your discretion, subject to manager approval. For example, you may choose to work in the office 4 days per week and take one remote day weekly (typically 13 weeks per quarter), leaving 5 additional remote days to be used as needed.
 

Help drive the evolution of automation and data-driven operations within HarbourVest. In this role, you’ll support the Accounting, Performance and Portfolio Analytics functions by building, rolling out, and maintaining automation solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. This pivotal role requires strong technical skills, a heavy data focus, and the ability to lead a small team while translating data, findings, and operational needs into clear, actionable outcomes.
 

The ideal candidate is someone who is:

  • A hands-on automation leader demonstrating advanced technical proficiency

  • An effective collaborator and relationship-builder, working cross-functionally across fund and investment operations and with technology partners

  • Proven in developing, implementing, and coordinating automation initiatives
     

What you will do:

  • Automation Development and Rollout: Build, test, deploy, and maintain automation solutions that support Accounting, Performance, and Portfolio Analytics workflows.

  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a small team responsible for supporting automation, data analysis, and operational process improvement.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze large datasets, identify trends, validate outputs, and present findings clearly to collaborators and leadership.

  • Business User Support: Partner closely with business users to understand requirements, gather feedback, and ensure automation solutions meet operational needs.

  • Escalation Management: Triage and resolve issues related to automation, data outputs, and process exceptions; coordinate with relevant teams as needed.

  • Process Improvement: Look for opportunities to streamline manual processes, improve controls, enhance data quality, and increase operational efficiency.

  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain clear documentation for automation logic, processes, controls, and user guidance.

  • Communications and Storytelling: Create clear presentations, summaries, and updates that communicate progress, findings, risks, and impact.

  • Support department-wide initiatives and special projects as needed.
     

What you bring:

  • Strong SQL, Python, and general coding skills

  • Experience building, deploying, and maintaining automation solutions

  • People management experience, including coaching, prioritization, and team development

  • Strong data analysis, validation, and reporting capabilities

  • Ability to present data, findings, and recommendations clearly

  • Experience supporting accounting, performance, portfolio analytics, or investment operations functions

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues

  • Ability to manage escalations and communicate resolution plans effectively

  • Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with business and technology teams

  • Strong focus on detail, accuracy, and operational excellence

  • Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities and deadlines
     

Education Preferred

  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A) or equivalent experience

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S) or equivalent experience
     

Experience

  • 10+ Years in Finance, Investment Operations, Data & Analytics, Technology Automation, or related roles

Base Salary Range

$170,000.00 - $180,000.00

This USD base salary range represents only one component of total compensation for this role and is provided in accordance with local requirements. This role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, which is determined based on individual and overall firm performance. In addition to salary and bonus, total compensation may include eligibility for long-term reward programs and a comprehensive total rewards package that may include retirement, health, insurance, paid time off, and wellness programs. Our total rewards offerings are influenced by several business factors, and eligibility for certain components will vary by position and geography. Please note the posted ranges do not apply outside the U.S. and should not be converted to other currencies as a proxy for compensation in other countries.
