• Provides leadership around risk management including; establishes and rolls out local frameworks, policies and operating guidelines within the parameters set out in Enterprise Risk Management framework and policies and works with management to implement processes to ensure compliance with the frameworks, policies, operating guidelines and local regulatory requirement
• Provides independent oversight and challenge over management to ensure that management has implemented effective risk management processes. Ensure that risk based measurement and reporting metrics, including risk limits and exception reporting is established. Facilitate the annual “Key Risk Identification Process”. Provide quarterly status updates on Key Risk and continuously communicate emerging risk issues and potential and actual breaches of Risk Management policies to the Chief Risk Officer.

• Provides strategic risk challenge to management on business strategy and key business initiatives. Identifies key business risks and works with the business to ensure risks are appropriately assessed and monitored, mitigation strategies are developed and implemented in a timely manner.

• Communicating and providing education on risk management measures and risk / return analysis tools to business areas. Promotes risk management cultures within the company

• Provide hands on leadership for various risk related projects

Preferred skills

• broad knowledge of operational processes, governance framework, and all products, services, and distribution channels 
• ability to influence without direct authority; influencing decision making related to complex financial risk issues with senior management  
• strong risk management skills required; risk management is a relatively new discipline in the Insurance industry and many existing applications must be adapted to our business 
• strong communication skills required to translate technical issues to business partners 

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Finance / Accounting / Economics / Actuarial/ Legal or equivalent. 

• Insurance expert certification, Risk Management certification 

• Substantial business experience in Insurance or Banking (10+ years)

• Substantial management experience (5+ years)
