Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
We are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer based in our office in Lyngby, near Copenhagen!
This is a collaborative, multidisciplinary group focused on designing groundbreaking metrology products. Design state of the art mechanical and electromechanical systems.
- Responsible for complete design and analysis of mechanical systems and components, for current and next generation metrology systems. This includes requirements specification, feasibility studies, analysis and modeling as needed.
- Conceptual and detailed design using 3D solid modeling tools, detail drawings, procurement of prototype parts, prototype testing, troubleshooting, system integration, creation of assembly/manufacturing procedures and handoff to manufacturing.
- Generating documentation (BOM, ECO, assembly drawings) required to release the design to manufacturing.
- The role involves direct interaction with System engineering, Manufacturing, field support service for debugging and troubleshooting problems.
- Identifies/proposes potential improvements in existing designs and processes.
- Hands on supports system/subsystem installation and prototype assembly working together with manufacturing assemblers or system engineer.
- Responsible for identifying and qualifying local suppliers, closely work with suppliers to receive high quality parts on time.
- Work with supply chain and directly with critical suppliers to address technical and schedule issues.
Skills and experience:
- You should have good communication and negotiation skills and be able to anticipate supplier problems/issues and provide work around solutions.
- Experience in CAD mechanical design using CREO & Solidworks .
- Knowledg of managing large assemblies and system layout.
- Experience with PDM systems.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, sheet metal forming and 3D printing.
- Understanding of assembly and part tolerancing.
- Experience with manufacturing process for releasing parts and assemblies, including product structure for manufacturing and ECO process.
- Solid knowledge of precision machine design.
- Be able to interpret, update and create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years
