Job Description
The student worker will support the Great Basin College Child Center in a variety of tasks.
Qualifications:
Must be a student of Great Basin College
Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits for the semester and maintain a 2.0 GPA
Must qualify for Work Study or RSP through Student Financial Services
Computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
Capable of multi-tasking
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Organized with an attention to detail
Ability to work unsupervised
Capable of maintaining confidentiality
Applicants must be physically able to perform duties including frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching above shoulder level, climbing stairs, pulling, typing, prolonged standing or sitting
Responsibilities:
Create and maintain student files in a confidential manner
Registration/Enrollment – ensure all classrooms are fully enrolled
Charge student accounts and distribute statements
Take daily deposits and credit card reports to Controller’s Office
Clerical duties which include answering phones, filing, faxing, tracking data, distributing parent and/or staff letters and memos
Update and print sign in/out sheets monthly for each class
Update and distribute class information lists for each class
Distribute end of year tax statements
Create and distribute parent orientation packets as needed
Close building once parents, children and staff are gone
Maintain library- check in/check out books and materials to teachers and parents; keep track of late fees and checkouts; straighten shelves, restock books multiple times a day; add any new books into the library system; repair books with torn covers or pages; decorate library to keep with monthly curriculum themes.
Inventory library during the summer months which includes discarding any books that are beyond repair, ensuring all books are filed in the appropriate sections, and making new labels for bookshelves
Change out Parent Bulletin Board monthly
Other duties as assigned by Director or Program Coordinator
