As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, CrewMembers 7 (CM7) will extend the legacy of space explorers while pioneering access to the space frontier. CM7s serve as an integral member of the flight crew, flight operations, and astronaut customer experience teams and are responsible for training Blue Origin Astronauts and preparing them for flight on New Shepard as well as serving as the Capsule Communicator (CapCom) in the New Shepard Operations Control Center. CM7s also work in tandem with the Customer Experience teams to provide unparalleled customer experiences for New Shepard Astronauts, with the paramount duty of instilling trust and confidence. This role has a direct impact on the history of space exploration, requiring dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.
CM7s will also support payloads flying on New Shepard, both human-tended and uncrewed payload flights. This includes working directly with manifested customers through gated payload reviews, ongoing technical support, hardware management, and integration coordination. CM7s will assist in the development of operations documents and procedures as needed to support their payloads as well as supporting hardware integration, launch operations, and customer hosting during launch campaigns.
Once selected, all CM7 candidates will qualify and train to become both a certified CapCom and a certified CM7. Those selected as a CrewMember 7 embody the best of Blue Origin's Leadership Principles and must have sufficient experience at Blue Origin to serve the New Shepard Operations and Customer Experience teams at a Director level. It is an honor and a privilege to be a Crew Member 7, and it is your paramount duty to represent the best of Blue Origin. CrewMember 7 candidates must have experience in four main categories: Customer Service, High Consequence Operations, Conducting Training, and Public Speaking/Media. To become a CrewMember 7, you must submit an application through Workday containing:
1. Your Resume that describes how you meet the qualifications listed below, and
2. Written answers to the 4 main categories further described below.
The New Shepard Astronaut Office Director and Customer Experience Director will screen Workday applicants for the top 5 candidates, who will then move on to the interview process.
Please do not apply if you do not have exceptional credentials in at least 3 of the 4 main categories.
Please describe in writing your experience in the following four main categories:
Describe your Customer Service experience. Examples: Restaurant Server, Cook/Chef, Barista, Department Store Clerk, Hotel Concierge, Valet, Butler/Residential Services, Property Manager, Camp Counselor, etc.
Describe your High Consequence Operations experience. Examples: Fire Fighter, Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, Military Operations, Extreme Sports, Direct Space Launch Experience, Offshore oil & gas experience, mining, commercial fishing, other high consequence operations where there is a risk of death or extreme property damage.
Describe your experience Conducting Training. Examples: Instructor, Educator, Sports Coach, etc.
Describe your Public Speaking or Media experience. Examples: Broadcast anchor/reporter, lecturer, public speaker, TEDtalk, etc.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
5+ years of relevant work experience along with experience in Customer Service, High Consequence Operations, Training, and Public Speaking

Ability to deliver on multiple deadlines and prioritize compulsively as a self-directed individual, comfortable with a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically, deal with ambiguity, manage changing priorities and influence others
Ability to work cross functionally across multidisciplinary teams and with different priorities, processes and tools.
Demonstrated success as a comprehensive leader – builder, operator, a passionate advocate for customer needs and an unyielding driver for successful business results

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Functional Requirements:
You will be working in a hazardous environment with a risk of death or severe injury
Ability to ascend the Launch Tower (6 flights of stairs) within the operational timeline or in the event of an emergency
Ability to stand for up to 10 hours a day
Valid driver’s license and can comfortably drive large vehicles off-road (12 pax van)
Cannot have a fear of heights and must be very comfortable walking and working on the CC Access Bridge that is 70 feet above the ground on a grate floor
Cannot be claustrophobic
Travel Requirements:
This position is based in Kent or Launch Site One, but competitive candidates will be considered at any location. Frequent travel is required, primarily to Launch Site One, estimated to be 50% of the time. Regardless of home site, the CM7 position requires frequent and sometimes unexpected or last minute travel, most often to Launch Site One, but also to customer locations or to make public appearances on behalf of Blue Origin.
