Diagnostic Imaging position, Maternity cover, Willows Veterinary Centre and Referral Service, Solihull, UK

An opportunity has become available for a highly motivated individual to join our Diagnostic Imaging team in our Specialist multi-disciplinary Referral Centre, to provide maternity cover. The position will ideally commence in April 2024. The successful applicant will either hold or be eligible for an RCVS, American or European Diploma (or equivalent) and share our aim of providing excellent levels of care for our patients, clients and referring Veterinary Surgeons. 

 

The Imaging team, comprising five Specialist Diagnostic Imagers, one board-eligible clinician, two Residents, a highly experienced Radiographer and six Imaging Nurses, provides exceptional imaging support for our multi-disciplinary Specialists across Medicine, Soft Tissue Surgery, Neurology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Orthopaedics and ECC. 

 

As temporary maternity cover, this is ideally a full-time position, however, part time or intermittent locum cover would also be considered.

Willows has 200+ personnel, including around 60 Veterinary Surgeons. Our philosophy is very much one of friendly co-operation between all members of staff, creating a supportive and good-humoured atmosphere. 

 

The imaging facilities at Willows comprise: 

 

  • Siemens Magnetom sola 1.5T MRI 

  • Siemens 64 slice Somatom Go CT  

  • Samsung RS85A ultrasound machine  

  • GE Logiq S8 ultrasound 

  • Two digital X-ray rooms including a fluoroscopy machine that offers the advantages of both digital fluoroscopy and radiography in one system 

  • Two in-theatre image intensifiers (GE Fluorostar and Philips BV Pulsera) and one in-theatre Sonosite SII ultrasound system 

 

Images are reviewed and reported in a dedicated spacious viewing room and stored on a Fuji PACS, from which they are available on over 100 workstations throughout the practice, including via dedicated Osirix equipped Mac workstations within the Imaging suite. Siemens Syngovia DICOM reading software is available throughout the hospital on PC systems. There is also off-site access to PACS when required. 

 

The position will be well remunerated, and the package includes generous time off for holidays, CPD and involvement in professional committees. Out-of-hours emergency service provision is shared amongst the Imaging team. Willows provides excellent working conditions, care and support for all of our personnel. 

 

Centrally located, Willows is within easy reach of Birmingham, Birmingham International Airport and the national rail and motorway networks and is only a short drive away from historic Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and beautiful Warwickshire countryside.
