The Team Leader for the Software Trainer Field Team plays a pivotal role in guiding a high-performing, field-based team responsible for delivering training and implementation support for IDEXX Practice Management Systems. This role combines people leadership, operational oversight, and strategic alignment to ensure consistent, high-quality customer experiences across onboarding, go-lives, and post-implementation support.

The ideal candidate brings a collaborative mindset, strong coaching instincts, and a passion for veterinary practice success. This role requires balancing team development with operational execution, while also serving as a liaison between field trainers, implementation specialists, and cross-functional stakeholders.

What you will be doing:

Team Leadership & Coaching

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and performance management for a team of Software Trainers across multiple regions.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s and feedback sessions to support trainer development and consistency in delivery.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, empathy, and continuous learning.

Operational Oversight

  • Monitor team capacity, travel schedules, and project assignments to ensure optimal coverage and workload balance.
  • Partner with Implementation and Project Management teams to align trainer deployment with onboarding timelines and client readiness.
  • Support escalations and troubleshoot field-level challenges in real time.

Quality & Standardization

  • Champion the use of standardized training workflows, tools, and documentation
  • Collaborate with L&D and Process Improvement teams to refine training content and delivery methods based on client feedback and trainer input.
  • Ensure consistent execution of onboarding milestones that are owned by the Software Trainer.

Strategic Collaboration

  • Represent the Field Training function in cross-functional meetings and initiatives (e.g., Process/Tool enhancements, LMS, workflow sequencing).
  • Contribute to strategic planning around team growth, resource allocation, and process optimization.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the Field Success Manager and Implementation Leadership on team structure, KPIs, and change management.

What you need to Succeed:

  • 3+ years of experience in training, implementation, or customer success
  • 1+ years of people leadership or team mentorship experience.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and change; ability to lead through evolving processes and tools.

Preferred Attributes

  • Veterinary practice experience or familiarity with clinical workflows.
  • Experience leading remote or field-based teams.
  • Proficiency with CRM, LMS, and project management platforms (e.g., Salesforce, GUIDEcx, Confluence).
