DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Service Line Manager – PSG Origin Transportation serves as the global subject matter expert and commercial owner for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Pharmaceutical Services Group (PSG) origin transportation and Transportation-only service offerings. This role is responsible for defining, evolving, and scaling the service line to support global pharmaceutical and biotech customers, with a strong focus on complex, temperature controlled, and time critical supply chains.

This position operates at the intersection of commercial strategy, technical expertise, and operational execution. The Senior Service Line Manager partners closely with Global operations, sales, client services, and PSG business units to ensure a consistent, high quality, and differentiated customer experience worldwide. The role is highly customer facing and acts as a trusted advisor to global clients, supporting solution design, value proposition articulation, and long term strategic partnerships.

KEY AREAS OF FOCUS

  • Service Line Leadership & Technical Expertise Act as the global authority for PSG origin transportation and Transportation only services, including cold chain logistics, clinical trial supply distribution, and specialized life sciences transportation solutions.
  • Global Commercial Growth Drive growth through close collaboration with sales and commercial teams, supporting customer engagement, solution development, and expansion within existing and new pharmaceutical supply chains.
  • Operational Partnership Work in partnership with regional operations leaders to ensure service capabilities, performance standards, and innovation are aligned with global customer needs and commercial commitments.
  • Customer Advocacy & Engagement Serve as a senior, customer facing representative for global clients, providing strategic guidance, technical consultation, and issue resolution across complex, multiregional programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Service Line Strategy & Development

  • Own and evolve the global value proposition for PSG origin transportation and Transportation only services.
  • Support and refine the transportation growth strategy, ensuring alignment with broader PSG and Thermo Fisher Scientific objectives.
  • Continually assess market trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback to adapt and enhance the service offering.
  • Identify and champion new service developments, technologies, and capabilities to maintain a leading market position.

Commercial & Sales Enablement

  • Partner with sales leadership and field teams to support strategy execution, customer pursuits, and complex deal structuring.
  • Actively support customer meetings, presentations, and proposal development as the transportation subject matter expert.
  • Collaborate with Fisher Clinical Services, Fisher BioServices, Patheon, and other PSG and Thermo Fisher Scientific sales teams to articulate integrated, end to end solutions.
  • Ensure the Thermo Fisher Real-Time Track and Trace platform and related digital solutions are effectively positioned and clearly understood by customers and sales teams.

Global Customer Engagement

  • Serve as a senior escalation point and trusted advisor for global and strategic customers.
  • Support solution design that meets client requirements across regulatory, quality, cost, and service dimensions.
  • Model and promote exceptional customer service, ensuring consistent, high quality experiences across regions.

Operational & Cross Functional Partnership

  • Work closely with Global operations to ensure service feasibility, scalability, and consistent execution.
  • Review performance against plan with the Director, Total Transportation Management (TTM), and recommend corrective actions where gaps exist.
  • Act as the voice of the customer internally, identifying operational, technology, and resource needs to support growth and service excellence.

Performance Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Demonstrate the initiative and accountability required to meet or exceed financial and growth targets for the service line.
  • Ensure accurate, timely reporting of commercial and operational metrics.
  • Support continuous improvement of sales strategies, service delivery models, and internal processes.

Leadership & Culture

  • Promote Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Mission, Values, and Quality culture in all interactions.
  • Influence without authority across global, matrixed teams to drive alignment and results.
  • Mentor and guide commercial and operational stakeholders on transportation best practices and customer expectations.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Deep familiarity with clinical supply chains, pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution, third-party logistics, and sourcing models.
  • Significant experience within the life sciences, pharmaceutical logistics, or comparable regulated logistics industries.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in cold chain logistics, temperature controlled transportation, and time critical supply chain solutions.
  • Strong program and project management experience, with extensive customer facing leadership exposure.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making in a fast paced, complex, and global environment.
  • Working knowledge of GMP environments, including SOP adherence, quality systems, and regulatory expectations.
  • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to translate technical capabilities into customer value propositions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive level presentations.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, Salesforce, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of internal and external organizations.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10–25%, including international travel.
