Position Summary...

Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales. Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities. Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.

About the Team:

As a member of Sam's Club and Walmart's Conversation & Generative AI team, we are focused on developing groundbreaking new features that allow our customers and members to effortlessly shop at Sam's Club and Walmart while findings efficiencies for our associates (home office and in-field). This team also contributes to the creation of frameworks and applications for both Associates and Members. Positioned within the AI Labs organization, our team is dedicated to crafting state-of-the-art Conversational Commerce experiences both in-house and in cooperation with strategic partners. Being part of this team offers the opportunity to work on pioneering solutions and be at the vanguard of the rapidly evolving conversational shopping platform.

What you'll do:

  • Design, build, test and deploy cutting edge solutions at scale, impacting millions of customers worldwide.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentorship to a small group of highly skilled and motivated engineers.
  • Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.
  • Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda, set your priorities and deliver awesome products.
  • Writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; collaborating with the project team and cross-functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; enhancing design to prevent re-occurrences of defects; ensuring on- time delivery and hand-offs;
  • Seek ways to improve software and its effectiveness.

What you'll bring:

8+ years of experience in design and development of consumer facing software.

  • Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns.
  • Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly.
  • Strong hands on development skills to prototype technical solutions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Good problem-solving attitude and analytical skills
  • Ability to balance the long-term "big picture" and short term implications.

  • Practical knowledge of agile software development methodologies
  • Experience in ML Ops 
  • Advanced Java & Python development experience with building highly scalable applications
  • Proficiency in Azure & GCP
  • Familiarity with NLP techniques and related algorithms
  • Nice to have: Experience with Generative AI
  • Nice to have: Chat & Voice bot development experience.
  • Nice to have: Basic experience of Kubernetes and  dev ops
