Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We’re searching for a Senior Product Designer for ML Experience. This person will partner closely with senior leaders, engineers, product managers, and designers to design and deliver machine learning and data analysis tools used to create labeled datasets that fuel our machine learning and autonomy development teams.

Aurora’s Product Design team – which includes Product Designers, Industrial Designers, Service Designers, and UX Researchers - is responsible for creating a remarkably better experience for the people who build and use Aurora’s products and services. That means we are constantly challenging the status quo to deliver experiences that are simple, clear, and intuitive by design. We strive to make our products feel like magic by anticipating unmet needs, abstracting away complexity, and removing the potential for error.

In this role, you will

  • Design the end-to-end user experience for ML Data and Analysis Tools
  • Frequently engage in UX Research to understand and evaluate the usefulness and usability of our workflows and tools
  • Leverage usability insights to guide your involvement across a large solution space
  • Take charge of the design process to plan, scope, define and deliver high quality responsive interfaces that meet accessibility guidelines
  • Partner closely with engineering, product, and UX research peers to define and deliver solutions that are feasible, work for users and our business
  • Build prototypes to find solutions worth building and get feedback on design iterations from users and stakeholders
  • Contribute to our design system to create consistent user experiences and streamline the development process across our products

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of product design experience
  • High proficiency with Figma for prototyping
  • Ability to communicate design concepts and rationale to cross functional collaborators and stakeholders
  • Experience working closely with engineering, product, and design peers to define, design, ship, and iterate on highly usable products
  • Eager to take on new challenges and willing to do what it takes to get the job done
  • A portfolio demonstrating product design experience

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience designing and shipping enterprise software, data products, or 3D visualization tools with complex technical requirements
  • Familiarity with Lidar and Radar sensor visualization
  • Experience designing for ML, AI-powered products, or self driving technology
  • Enjoy turning ambiguous and highly technical problems into intuitive interactions
  • Strong interaction design, information architecture, and visual design skills
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams of people from all disciplines and levels
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions
  • Ability to travel periodically

The base salary range for this position is $94K-$151K per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions.
